Bless we get from believing in Jesus (Isaiah 61:1-6)

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” 4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations. 5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, And the sons of the foreigner Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. 6 But you shall be named the priests of the Lord, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.

 Intro)

1. Every human being was born from their parents, but only Jesus revived himself with holy spirit's guidance. That is reason why there are Easter and Christmas on our calendar.  Jesus is someone who is hard to believe, so I would say person who doesn't believe Jesus is weird person than who believes in Jesus.

2. In bible John 3:16-21 Saint John says "¹⁶ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

¹⁸ “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. ²¹ But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

 Therefore, God gave us salvation through his son Jesus when human beings were covered their souls with unforgivable sins. In today's text  Isaiah 61:1-6 is about just believing in Jesus is the way to salvation.

 

 

 3. In today's text Isaiah 61:1 begins with ' The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me...'

Who is me in this sentence? It's Jesus. Jesus himself said it through Prophet Isaiah's mouth from 700years before he born. Jesus who will born with holy spirit said it himself even before he was born. Also Jesus name is Jesus Christ, Christ meaning in Latin who was anointed.

 

In the Old testament from Israel there are 3 kinds of anointments, which are King, priest, and messiah. Here Jesus was anointed, because he is a messiah. He is a true priest, king, and messiah forever.

 

 King in this world would change in few years and decades as longest, but our king Jesus is stays remaining on his throne for more than 2000 years and so on. Therefore, every year in Christmas people turn all the lights and Carols, and share gifts to have a good time. Hallelujah!  Now Let's think about how people's life change through believing in Jesus.

A) First of all, heals broken heart.

Why do we get broken heart? because someone does not know our feelings, Misunderstanding of meaning of words, look down on due to lack of educated with poverty, appearance, love, broken dream, but worst of all is cannot be able to get out of disease and death.

 

 This kinds of Heart broke can be fixed by believing in Jesus. So people have peaceful mind from every kinds of misunderstanding, complex, and ignorance understanding about world and learn how to love by knowing who he/she is.

In Philippians 4:11-14 Saint Paul said" ¹¹ Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: ¹² I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. ¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

¹⁴ Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.

 

Saint Paul said he earned satisfying grace not just for himself , but all of members of Philippians church, and this is a bless we get from believing in Jesus.

 

B) Gives freedom to captives in their life.

We become captives due to many reasons such as family, money, enemy, drug, love, but greatest of all is a Sin. Why captive of sin are worse? because it leads to death and will fall in God's final judge.

 

 In Romans 3:23 says " ²³ for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Then, what is a sin? in Romans 3:9-18 it says 

⁹ What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

¹⁰ As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;
¹¹ There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
¹² They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
¹³ “Their throat is an open tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
¹⁴ “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
¹⁵ “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways;
¹⁷ And the way of peace they have not known.”
¹⁸ “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

There was a pastor talked about fundamentally evil side of human in sermon.  There was an infant who born in a normal family, weirdly infant started crying when mother wasn't there. Later family figured out it was his older brother. His brother was pinching year old brother, because he was jealous of his younger brother. Older brother thought his younger brother was getting all the love he supposed to get. Therefore, he was bullying his younger brother, although none told him he knew from the beginning.

 

Human knows their sins, but fundamentally we are selfish and greedy.

At the end human being became a captive of sin, so we need Jesus' holy cross to forgive our sin, and release free from punishment in hell. This is how we say receive salvation through believing Jesus.

 

 C) Proclaims about release to captives

This word meaning, through messiah we captives are free from sin and curses, which it emphasizes the freedom by repeating the words.

 

D)Proclaims Jehovah' grace.

Year of Grace means year when Jesus came and God's grace has given to all human being. Therefore, about 2000 years ago era of grace and church as began.

 

E)proclaims day of God's retribution.

 

Here it means God will start retaliation against Satan through Jesus. Satan the devil captured us with snare and cages us with our sins. Jesus came to set us free, so God was saying it was a part of retribution.

There was a declaration about this retribution in Genesis 3:14-15 which is about when human commit a crime.

¹⁴ So the Lord God said to the serpent:

“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
¹⁵ And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

Woman's future generation is Jesus who born without man but with holy spirit, Jesus is going to destroy snake meaning head of Satan. This means the day Jesus born retribution against Satan will start. therefore, Christian will be free from unfairness and pain by God's grace. hallelujah!

 

F) Every sad one receive consolation

 

Being of messiah will give comfort through his ministry to whoever is in depression  and Persecution from world. So, If we believe in Jesus we will earn amazing grace. on today's text verse 3 says

³ To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

 

 

G) Gives mission to who believes in Jesus at the end.

Isaiah 61:3 says  who received salvation has a mission. We receive missions to praise God's grace, amazing love, reveals God's righteousness. This is mission of propagation and volunteer.  Which called bearing righteous fruit. Therefore, it spreads of God's gospel and do goods for God's grace.

Then what is the sin that cannot be forgiven? which is sin that doesn't believing in Jesus.

This sin remains in our life, and even soul cannot be forgiven inside. Denying God's love and grace is a sin, without Jesus we cannot bear righteous fruit we can't earn salvation, so we fall in hell, and now cannot do a good to family and neighbors but harm them which leads to sin.

 

If there is someone who didn't accept Jesus as your messiah personally? I recommend to accept it soon. Having a faith of size of mustard seed would let you receive salvation.  Accept Jesus to your messiah. Pray God to give you faith. 

 

Loving followers, let us be a person who works hard to spread Jesus to our neighbors and praying for the soul who is lost to our good Jesus. There are nothing better and beautiful than this. let us pray.
