God is Real (Exodus 3:13-14)
13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
14. 하나님이 모세에게 이르시되 나는 스스로 있는 자이니라 또 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 스스로 있는 자가 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라
14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
“Does God really exist?” is the most fundamental question of faith. Even seasoned Christians sometimes ask that question to themselves when something happens in their life. However, in today’s scripture, God came to see Moses. Let us read the verses together:
“13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
Yes. He is an absolute being that was here even before the universe. Genesis 1 also says:
“1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
2. So
in order to spread the gospel and believe in God, we need to know about the
existence of God. I want to share a few pieced of evidence that prove our God
is real.
A) Existing
There is nothing that exists without reason or without being a result of something. There is an old Korean saying, “There are no tombs without reason.” There are many other Korean sayings like this and how there is no effect without cause.
So how are we here? Your parents gave birth to you. But what about your parents? How did they get here? If we keep asking these questions you will find Adam and Eve at the root of our family tree. Then who made them? The answer is our God.
Some might ask, “How about the theory of evolution?” Well there is no scientific evidence that animals can evolve drastically like monkeys to humans. A monkey is a monkey and they aren’t evolving any more. Another example is this church we are in. It didn’t just appear randomly.
B) What if there was no God?
Let us think about what it would be like if there was no God in this universe. Then, who designed this universe, set the distance between the Earth and the Sun? There is a 1/12,243 chance that a protein particle could form randomly. And hundreds of thousands of them form one cell. How many cells do we have in our body? Think about the chance of a life form just appearing without a maker.
Everything in this world, such as a clock, a wall, and a house all have somebody that designed them. Just like them, we were designed by God.
C) Controller
This is a theory that I came up with: Think about our galaxy, our solar system, or the Earth. Everything in this universe is spinning / moving like a top. A top needs someone to keep it spinning. If you leave a top without touching it, it won’t spin for long. So, without our God who keeps our universe spinning, this universe would stop very soon. What power makes this universe, air, cloud, wind, rain and seasons exist? It is our God.
D) Morals
Thorough out history, every county or even small clans had some kind of moral standard whether it be law set in stone or a cultural norm. Then where does that moral standard and sense of conscience came from? Why aren’t we like animals in nature, killing the weak and leaving only the strongest to survive? Why not? Because we know what is wrong and right deep inside our conscience. If this is not from God, then where would we all get it? God created us to be like Him and that is why we have this moral compass in our hearts.
E) Creation
When God created us, He gave us the ability to create as well. Science is one of the results of this. The ability to create is what distinguished us from God’s other creations. No other creation can build a bicycle and ride it to work. They don’t have fancy Nike shoes; or shoes at all for that matter. The Bible says “20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…”(Romans 1:20) If you have an interest in how this universe was designed, study it and you will see there must someone who controls it.
Psalms 53:1 says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.”
F)Special Revelation
There are many special revelations like dreams, visions, etc. However, the most important and accessible revelation for everyone is the Bible. The Old and New Testaments make up a total of 66 books that God provided for us and through which He shows us promises that were kept and will be completed when Jesus returns. Two weeks ago, we studied the Book of Daniel and it teaches us more about this.
I will read what Daniel12:4 says about the end of times: “4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Sounds like now, right? Cars, trains, and planes are becoming faster and faster.
What else do we read in the verse? “Knowledge shall be increased” it says. Look around you; we are living in the digital world, the Information Age. Every bit of information and piece of knowledge is only a few clicks or touches away. Many revelations in the Bible are coming true. Why? Because it is our God who knows all and He is giving us revelations through the Bible.
There are many other evidences other than these but we are short on time so in short: God is real. Amen? I hope and pray we learned something today and will work to spread this truth and teach others.
