Open Your Mouth Wide (psa 81:5~11)
5 This He established in Joseph as a testimony,
When He went throughout the land of Egypt,
Where I heard a language I did not understand.
6 “I removed his shoulder from the burden;
His hands were freed from the baskets.
7 You called in trouble, and I delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah
8 “Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you!
O Israel, if you will listen to Me!
9 There shall be no foreign god among you;
Nor shall you worship any foreign god.
10 I am the Lord your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 “But My people would not heed My voice,
And Israel would have none of Me.
12 So I gave them over to their own stubborn
heart,
To walk in their own counsels.

Everyone when we live in faith we have something that expect from God. This is common relationship between father God and children of his
If we don’t expect anything from God, God will wonder why you live in faith, and why do you bother coming to the church?
When people of Israel were in wilderness it has happened before and God
felt disappointed. Today’s verse 11 says, 11 “But My people would not heed
My voice,
And Israel would have none of Me. As child wants parent’s
attention we need to seek for God’s attention and help. He is who created us
and loves us. We are God’s children. We need to communicate with him to keep
the relationship.
Body)
A) Don’t close your mouth to God
1. When children close their mouth against parents there is a problem. Same thing goes to God and our relationship. If child close mouth to him that is not healthy relationship between parent and child. We need a communication between God and us in order to thank his grace and ask for what is in need.
In Matthew 7:11 God says, 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!’ what is this mean? You are saying you have faith in God, but never ask for anything like you don’t count on God. We need to communicate with God more, because If you don’t ask he would not give you what you need.
In book of James 4:2-3 says, 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet[a] you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. ‘
We need to obtain things in right way how? Matthew 6:33 says, “33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.’
God says his nation is righteous, pleasant, and peace. We need to accept Jesus to our heart and ask for righteous work, so your soul can please God more and more.
If you think praying would not do anything and closing mouth to God is what Satan wants. So let’s get it together and pray our lord.
In Matthew 7:7-8 says,
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
James 1:6-8 says, 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Let me tell you a story, there was a new church and soon some people started a bar next to the church. Night time there was constant noise coming from the bar and church people couldn’t handle it. Church people decided to pray God that bar closes so we can praise the lord in peace. Not too long bar started to lose costumers and ended up closing the bar. The owner of bar somehow heard that church people prayed his bar to close and it did so he sued church.
Pastor had to go to the court. Owner of Bar kept asking for compensation. Pastor said we just prayed and your bar really closed, but this is ridiculous. Judge finally made up his decision. He said he will charge all to God; because he is the one actually did the job.
Sometimes, we pray for something, but ironically we do not expect response. Well anyhow God demands us to ‘open our mouth wide!’
B) Need to open mouth wide for God.
Today’s
verse 10 says, 10 I am the Lord your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
This
verse is blessing. This means ask for more. Sometimes God is too busy to fulfill
all prayers. Psalms81: 1-3 says, Sing
aloud to God our strength;
Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.
2 Raise a song and strike the timbrel,
The pleasant harp with the lute.
3 Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon,
At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.
If we do this how happy God will be? Don’t you feel happy when your children sing and dance? Let’s praise the Lord more to make him happy!
Psalms 119:131 says, 131 I
opened my mouth and panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.” We need to put more time
and put value in spending time with God. If you come to the church and close
your mouth and not praise the Lord like you are upset that would not be a
blessing. is it?
So, let’s say Amen!! More loudly and praise God louder.
When bird feeds their babies, their mother bird always feeds them equally. How? Mother sees baby bird’s mouth. Hungrier baby opens mouth wider.
Like so, we need to open our mouth wider to be noticed by God. If we keep asking for what we need and communicate with God, he will fill our emptiness.
Like when Israel people were in
wilderness they didn’t have anything, but God filled their needs to survive. God fed them manna and bird. When they
are thirsty God broke the rock and gave them water. God always satisfy us with
goods. Psalms 81:16 says, ‘16 He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat;
And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.”
Con)
Psalms 107:9
says, ‘9 For He
satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness.’
Isaiah 55:2, ‘2 Why do you spend money for what
is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.’
Jeremiah 33:3, 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Everyone, let’s not make a mistake by using world’s way and open our mouths to seek what we need from God. Because we know when he gives us it will be finest in the world.
