Home that God protects. (Isa 27:2-6)
2 In that day—“Sing about a fruitful vineyard:
3 I, the Lord, watch over it; I water it
continually.
I guard it day and night
so
that no one may harm it.
4 I am not angry. If only
there were briers and thorns confronting me!
I
would march against them in battle;
I
would set them all on fire.
5 Or else let them come to me
for refuge; let them make peace with me,
yes,
let them make peace with me.”
6 In days to come Jacob will
take root, Israel will bud and blossom
and
fill all the world with fruit.
Intro)
1. According to pastor Han Taewan’s story there was old woman living alone on countryside who served God for over 30 years. She was living in small and rusty house. When people came over for church group study they said “why don’t you ask your son to get you a bigger place in Seoul?” and she replied “this house wont collapse, although it does I will probably die soon why build new one?”
In 2003 it was a sunny sun day; old woman went to church for service and her house collapsed. The scene was quite messy, but old woman was fine because she was at church and God saved her life. Now she got a new house and bigger place. God saved home who loves God.
2. on the surface every household looks the same. But there are quite of difference between house with God and no God. What are the differences? Let’s think about it.
Body)
A) Home that have presences of God
1. God said home that has God will be protected like God’s eye.
Deuteronomy 32:9-12
9 For the Lord’s portion
is his people,
Jacob
his allotted inheritance.
10 In a desert land he found
him,
in
a barren and howling waste.
He shielded him and cared for him;
he
guarded him as the apple of his eye,
11 like an eagle that stirs up
its nest
and
hovers over its young,
that spreads its wings to catch them
and
carries them aloft.
12 The Lord alone led him;
no
foreign god was with him.
& Matthew 7:24-25
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
B) Home that don’t have God
1. on the other hand home or nation that doesn’t have God will have different result. Think about North Korea
Just looking at their economy or just citizen’s life it is known as poor country.
They hate God and destroy church. Having bible will become serious crime to them. North Korea was so focused on making Nuclear weapon to kill and rob south Korea.
2. Last week brother Choi jin who visited our church told us he went to North Korea. When he went North Korea most of mountain they had was bold. No trees left on the mountain. Nothing to eat
3. Not long ago there was a news that one of North Korean soldier crossed line to get to South Korea because there was nothing to eat in North Korea with few gunshots. During surgery to save him the surgery became really hard because his belly was full of parasites. North Korea doesn’t even have medicine for parasites.
God abandons country and home that abandons God’s word. North Korea had their golden time, but after they abandoned God their land is empty and dry, no freedom, full of diseases, and became living hell.
4. Prophet Eli’s home that ignored God’s word is abandoned and King Saul and his home have been abandoned. Eli died from accident and what happens to Eli’s sons and grandsons? They died in war. Don’t take God’s word as a joke. Who is arrogant and ignores God’s word will be unfortunate why? It is because he is alive. God has no mercy to who is arrogant against him.
5. during exodus era there was people who were opposed to Moses and Aaron, and there is story about how they ended on Psalms.
16 In
the camp they grew envious of Moses
and
of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord.
17 The earth opened up and
swallowed Dathan;
it
buried the company of Abiram.
18 Fire blazed among their
followers;
a
flame consumed the wicked.
19 At Horeb they made a calf
and
worshiped an idol cast from metal.
20 They exchanged their
glorious God
for
an image of a bull, which eats grass.
Challenging to God’s authority and his word is big sin. None worked well being opposed to God.
C) God has to build our home.
1. Today’s verse talks about vineyard guard. This mean God is guard and people are vineyard. God works vineyard and protects us from evil, Satan, and lead us to right path.
Today, in this world there are dangerous evils are lurking around our lives. Our home needs to have God who protects us from evil things and we have to accept him. We need to ask for protection through prayer. So does church. People who go to church have to be happy. When their home is happy it becomes blessing to church. Children have to grow in right path so they won’t cover God’s glory.
2. Satan is always trying to break happy home. With just our own it is hard to defend against Satan’s attack. Satan is so strong God’s first home Adam and Eve’s family was destroyed. Adam and Eve were exiled from Eden and their children killed each other. If we don’t be obedient and rely on God’s word we won’t be able to handle Satan’s attack.
Psalms 37:39-40 says, ‘39 The salvation of the
righteous comes from the Lord;
he
is their stronghold in time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and delivers
them;
he
delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because
they take refuge in him.’
121: 8, 8 the
Lord
will watch over your coming and going
both
now and forevermore.
17:8,8 Keep
me as the apple of your eye;
hide
me in the shadow of your wings
Exodus14:14, 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Our job is to letting him. Trust God without a doubt and let him help us. We need to pray and wait for God to fulfill it. That is our work.
David
said on Psalms 4:4-8, ‘4 Tremble and[d]
do not sin;
when
you are on your beds,
search
your hearts and be silent.
5 Offer the sacrifices of the
righteous
and
trust in the Lord.
6 Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let
the light of your face shine on us.
7 Fill my heart with joy when
their grain and new wine abound.
8 In peace I will lie down and
sleep,
for
you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
‘In New Testament, Saint Peter said give our burden to God. 1 peter5:7,10 says,
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power forever and ever. Amen.
Con)
Either, our home is pleasant or sad; when we depend on God he will protect us with his grace and mercifulness. Let’s trust our God and let God fulfill our home with love and blessing forever and ever. Hallelujah!
