Live with God’s Word

Intro)

Between American Christians there is a nickname ‘Turtle Christian’ which means be able to fast for 500 days and not dying. Normally bird will die fasting for 10 days, dogs 20days, and human 7-9days. When fasting if you drink water you may hold 40days, but after that it can be critical to your health. So, Christian who can survive 500days fasting earn ‘Turtle Christian.’ In book of Revelation 3:1 says, “And to the [a]angel of the church in Sardis write,

‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. 

Amos 8:11 says, “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.

 

2. Today’s verse is about when Jesus was starting togetherness he was put on Satan’s test and Jesus defeat Satan from the test. We do not live only bodily, but spiritually, so we need to obtain spiritual vitality. (Where does it spiritual vitality comes from? Let’s think about it)

  Body)

A)Live with recorded word.

Jesus described God’s word as recorded as well. This means we need to use bible as source. The word in bible is recorded and still valid.

Jesus didn’t use his knowledge, experience and his wisdom to defeat Satan, but with recorded God’s word. Why did he rely on God’s word? It is because God’s word has power and vitality as always. We are being tested at all times, but we often use worldly experience and money to overcome it. we have to use God’s word rather than worldly method. Ephesians 6:17 says, ‘And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God’

In America there was a man who is successful as merchant and political figure. His name was John Wanamaker. As he celebrate 60th years of successful merchant he pulled out an old bible and told people that this was his greatest investment he ever made in his life. Because the bible cost 2 dollar and 50 cents changed his life.

 

B) Live with all of God’s word

Every word that God spoke has power. Everything he said to happen it happened.
 If there is anything that has not happened yet is Jesus’ return and day of final judgment of God

God’s word is a eternal living power and existence.  Matthew 5:18 says, ‘18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one [b]jot or one [c]tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.’ We have to believe in God’s word’s power and rely on it.

 

First President of America George Washington once said “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.” On his president inauguration he put his hand on the bible and made an oath. He successfully earned independency of America from a war and ran for second term of presidency. On third he refused and went back to his land. As successful leader he left significant mark as role model and democratic structure.

 

 C) Live with obedience to God’s word

 

God’s word should not end at just reading. We have to keep it and act on it. When we keep God’s word he keeps protecting us from unaware danger. Deuteronomy 8:3 says, ‘3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. ‘ John 6:38-89 says, ‘38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.’ Jesus didn’t live as desire, but obedient to God’s word and live by God’s word.
 
D) Scientifically proven God’s word

 

Some says bible is not so scientific, so it is hard to believe. However, there are so many yet to be discovered science. However, science is still developing and idea is oppose of understanding God, so it may not reach finding God with scientific approach. Genius Scientist Newton said after looking at mysteries of body, nature, and space if there is anyone still does not believe in God that person is either crazy or not honest person.

 

Simpson who discovered anesthetic liked reading bible. He wanted to find a way to perform painless surgery. One day he was reading the bible on Genesis 2:21-22, ‘And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He [h]made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.’

He realized this was possible. And continue to find the way and discovered Chloroform for the first time.

 

 

Matthew Fontaine Maury pioneer of hydrographer had a physical condition, so he would often as his son to read bible. And heard verse of Psalm 8:8 

‘The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.’

After hearing bible verse he realized there is a path on sea as well, so he started going out and made a map. Therefore, he was the first to create marine map 

 

When Samuel Finley Breese Morse first invented telegraph apparatus first word that he tested was verse John 3:16. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. After Morse invention other electric devices started to invented by others. However, key idea to Morse’s invention there was Franklin’s idea. Franklin realized electric conduction with through bible verse and a kite. Jobs 38:35 ‘Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you, ‘Here we are!’?’

Jobs 26:7 says, ‘He stretches out the north over empty space;
He hangs the earth on nothing.’ But people could not believe the earth was floating in the space, so people were afraid of going out of the sea. Fact that earth is round is found later, but bible already gave an answer to it.

And there are many bible verses that explain to our science like deep sea creatures, and air pressure.

Proverbs 8:28 When He established the clouds above,
When He strengthened the fountains of the deep,

Jobs 28:25, He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife,
But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.

 

Man only knows how to live worldly we all say hallelujah amen, but not many move to an action. This way you won’t be able to get true blessings from God. Reading bible and going to church does not mean anything if you do not follow God’s word and rely on it. So, we need to do our best to be obedience to God’s word and believe its power to continue to spread down to our future generation. Amen.
