Blessing of synergy (레 26:3~12) 

3    너희가 내 규례와 계명을 준행하면 ³ ‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them,
4    내가 너희에게 철따라 비를 주리니 땅은 그 산물을 내고 밭의 나무는 열매를 맺으리라 ⁴ then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

5    너희의 타작은 포도 딸 때까지 미치며 너희의 포도 따는 것은 파종할 때까지 미치리니 너희가 음식을 배불리 먹고 너희의 땅에 안전하게 거주하리라 ⁵ Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing;

you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

6    내가 그 땅에 평화를 줄 것인즉 너희가 누울 때 너희를 두렵게 할 자가 없을 것이며 내가 사나운 짐승을 그 땅에서 제할 것이요 칼이 너희의 땅에 두루 행하지 아니할 것이며 ⁶ I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid;

I will rid the land of evil^[b] beasts,

and the sword will not go through your land.

7    너희의 원수들을 쫓으리니 그들이 너희 앞에서 칼에 엎드러질 것이라⁷ You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.

8    또 너희 다섯이 백을 쫓고 너희 백이 만을 쫓으리니 너희 대적들이 너희 앞에서 칼에 엎드러질 것이며 ⁸ Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.

9    내가 너희를 돌보아 너희를 번성하게 하고 너희를 창대하게 할 것이며 내가 너희와 함께 한 내 언약을 이행하리라 ⁹ ‘For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you.

10    너희는 오래 두었던 묵은 곡식을 먹다가 새 곡식으로 말미암아 묵은 곡식을 치우게 될 것이며 ¹⁰ You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.

11    내가 내 성막을 너희 중에 세우리니 내 마음이 너희를 싫어하지 아니할 것이며 ¹¹ I will set My ^[c]tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you.

12    나는 너희 중에 행하여 너희의 하나님이 되고 너희는 내 백성이 될 것이니라
 ¹² I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.

 

Intro)

 

1. Today there is a thing called synergy effect, which you may hear from different fields. Synergy often uses as company economy, social, educational word.

Synergy means obtaining greater result combining different elements than using individual’s effort. For example there are horses raised in farm and trained well. Say each horse can drag 6 ton of weight how many weight do you think 2 horses can drag? 12? No apparently they can drag 23 ton of weight. This is synergy effect. However, this does not always work positive. Although, sometimes synergy can work backward, horse can look at each other and do not pull 6, but 5 or less.

2. Investor says there are big differences between 1 million and 10 million in investment, because each can have 10 times of invest effect. So, when 1 million becomes 10, 10 million can become 100 million.

 So, let’s think about this way. Say there is new Wal-Mart comes along. That Wal-Mart will cause many different stores to close.

 

 3. During fall season, you can see many seagulls fly in V shape as a group towards south. Why they fly in V shape? There is interesting scientific fact behind it. When the seagull in front flap its wing it will create an ascending air current it helps other and they can manage to fly 72% more distance than flying alone. So, when the seagull in front gets tired they will switch it out and help each other. This is a synergy effect

 

We as Christian needs to find synergy effect and we have to experience it.

A) Synergy of productivity

in verse 4-5 it says, ⁴ then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

⁵ Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing;

you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

 Palestine is dry area, so to people of Israel the rain is considered as God’s blessing. So, Israel people are people who look at the sky through their lives.

If there is no rain in October and November they have to face famine (hunger).

But God gives rain at the right time and nourish people’s empty stomach it is a blessing.

 

In Korea there was a time where they don’t have food to eat, but crop is not quite ripe and had to starve during May and June, but today we follow God’s word and keep our faith God give us synergy effect in Korean land, so we could earn more than our efforts.

 

B) Synergy of peace and victory

 

When people of God follow God’s order we can earn synergy in peace and victory.

Today’s verse 6-8 says, ⁶ I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid;

I will rid the land of evil^[b] beasts,

and the sword will not go through your land.

⁷ You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.

⁸ Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight;

your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.

 Normally 5 cannot chase 100 nor 100 chase 10thousands, but God told us there will be synergy effect without directly telling. This comes from our faith.
 

 The reason why individual or country has anxiety is because the peace between God has been broken.

Job 22:21 says, ²¹ “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you.

 

The world’s peace is in unbalanced. The world is now quite noisy with nuclear weapon of North Korea and Brexit(British exiting EU). The world is started to keep more distance with God. There are conflicts in trade, ideology, religion, and race. Looks like the world is becoming the world where only strong survive. Where do we have to stand in this time? Answer is simple; we have to stand with God and Jesus. This is only pathway to prosperity; therefore, faith towards God is important.   

 

C) Synergy of Prosperity

verse 9-12 says, ⁹ ‘For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you.

¹⁰ You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.

¹¹ I will set My ^[c]tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you.

¹² I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.

 

Meaning if you listen to God’s world and be obedient God will take care of us and make us big. God said he will keep his promise and fulfill it. This is God’s third synergy effect.

When we walk a path with God, there will be no bad year, peace will settle and prosperity of individual and country will follow.

 

If you read bible book of Samuel and Kings the history of Israel was repeat of rise and fall. When there is a king that fears God it rise, and when there was king do not fear God fall.

  

When King Ahab was running the country there was 3 and half of continuous bad years. The whole nation was dried. Why this happened? Bible tells it is because king Ahab worshiped idolatry and committed to sin.

 
Country’s safety and prosperity do not come from man, but from God, so when we worship God, follow his word, and earn God’s synergy effect. This can be also called as miracle.
 

 Although this past week has been tough and disappoints us do not be down and let us hold on to God’s word, pray, worship, and earn victory with faith. Hallelujah!
