11.그러므로 우리 장로들과 우리 나라의 모든 주민이 우리에게 말하여 이르되 너희는 여행할 양식을 손에 가지고 가서 그들을 만나서 그들에게 이르기를 우리는 당신들의 종들이니 이제 우리와 조약을 맺읍시다 하라 하였나이다 12.우리의 이 떡은 우리가 당신들에게로 오려고 떠나던 날에 우리들의 집에서 아직도 뜨거운 것을 양식으로 가지고 왔으나 보소서 이제 말랐고 곰팡이가 났으며 13.또 우리가 포도주를 담은 이 가죽 부대도 새 것이었으나 찢어지게 되었으며 우리의 이 옷과 신도 여행이 매우 길었으므로 낡아졌나이다 한지라 14.무리가 그들의 양식을 취하고는 어떻게 할지를 여호와께 묻지 아니하고 15.여호수아가 곧 그들과 화친하여 그들을 살리리라는 조약을 맺고 회중 족장들이 그들에게 맹세하였더라

 

16.그들과 조약을 맺은 후 사흘이 지나서야 그들이 이웃에서 자기들 중에 거주하는 자들이라 함을 들으니라

11 So our elders and all the inhabitants of our country said to us, 'Take provisions in your hand for the journey and go to meet them and say to them, "We are your servants. Come now, make a covenant with us."'

12 Here is our bread. It was still warm when we took it from our houses as our food for the journey on the day we set out to come to you, but now, behold, it is dry and crumbly.

13 These wineskins were new when we filled them, and behold, they have burst. And these garments and sandals of ours are worn out from the very long journey."

14 So the men took some of their provisions, but did not ask counsel from the LORD.

15 And Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them, to let them live, and the leaders of the congregation swore to them.

16 At the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, they heard that they were their neighbors and that they lived among them.

Good morning, Chapel Next! I am Chaplain Cho and thank you so much for this opportunity to stand in front of you guys to deliver the Lord’s message. Today I am going to talk about how God is our navigator. We all make mistakes in our lives can we agree with that? In a course of our lifetime, we don’t always choose the right path or right decisions, but many times, we all make mistakes. I also made a lot of mistakes growing up, and I also made a lot of mistakes when I first joined the army. I joined the army back in 2008 as a PFC, and one of the mistakes I made as a PFC was just stayed in the barracks playing video games. For 2 years in Fort Benning, GA, which was my first duty station, I didn’t think about exploring the area like Atlanta, Savanah or even Columbus, GA. But I just stayed in my barracks playing video games. I didn’t take any advantage of using the BOSS program, MWR events, or I even didn’t think about going to the chaplain programs to explore the area, and I just stayed in my barracks, playing video games. That was the first mistake I made in the army. After Fort Benning, GA, I was stationed in Camp Hovey, Korea for a year, and I got promoted to SPC, and a year later, I got my assignment to Fort Drum, NY as my third duty station. I also made another mistake here in Drum, which was buying an expensive car, with a high interest rate. As a SPC, I went to the dealership in Watertown, and I bought a brand-new Ford Mustang with a high interest rate. My interest rate was not as crazy as other new soldiers that I have seen, but it was still pretty high because I didn’t know. Most of my paycheck went straight to my car payment, gas and insurance. On top of that, driving a Mustang or a sport car in the snow here in Fort Drum, was not a good idea. So, I made a lot of mistakes in the army. If I think about it now, all these rookie mistakes could have been avoided, if I asked someone for a help or guidance. If I had a courage to ask someone who has been in the army for a long time, all the mistakes I made in the army could have been prevented. We all make mistakes, and people say we learn from our own mistakes, but isn’t it wise to make a right decision in the first place? Isn’t it wise to ask for advise who is expert in the field that we are not familiar with?

 

The scripture that we read today is about Joshua and Israelites making a mistake for not asking God for the guidance. In the Bible, God has promised Joshua and Israelites that God will give them a land that is flowing with milk and honey. But there was a problem. And the problem was there were people already living in the land that God has promised. So, the Israelites had to fight against the people and drive them out to conquer the land God has promised. So, first, the Israelites, conquered Jericho, conquered Ai and now it was time to conquer Gibeon. The people of Gibeon knew they don’t have a chance to win against the Israelites because they knew God was with them. So, the Gibeonites decide to disguise and camouflage themselves to be someone far away from the land of Canaan by wearing old clothes, patched sandals and carried spoiled food. Let’s read Joshua 9:12-13 “This bread of ours was warm when we packed it at home on the day we left to come to you. But now see how dry and moldy it is. 13 And these wineskins that we filled were new, but see how cracked they are. And our clothes and sandals are worn out by the very long journey.” So, the Gibeonites wanted the Israelites to believe that they lived far away from the land of Canaan, and they are no threat to Israel. And the Israelites were deceived because they were depending on their own observations and did not “ask direction from the Lord.”

 

A)Through this story, the very first lesson that I want you guys to remember is that God will always give us a guidance.

 Let’s read Joshua 9:14-15 “14 The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord. 15 Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath.” One of the most amazing things that I want you guys to remember is that we have the privilege to ask God for the guidance. We have the privilege to ask God the creator of the universe, we have the privilege to ask God who is sovereign, who knows everything, the king of the universe, king of all kings, and God gave us the privilege to ask him for guidance. When was the last time you talked to the President Biden for a guidance. When was the last time you asked the Division Commander Gen. Anderson for a guidance, or when was the last time you called DIV CSM Mobar for a guidance. Here in the army, or in Fort Drum, we rarely get a chance to personally talk to our leaders, but heavenly Father, the King of kings wants to talk to us, and give us guidance every single moment. How amazing is that?

One of the things that I learned in the army is how to land nav. I am pretty sure everybody done it at least once. During the land nav, everybody gets at least 3-4 different points to find. And in order to find your points, you have to have a compass and know how to use the compass. Doesn’t matter how smart you are, you stronger you are, how handsome or beautiful you are, how young or old you are, if you do not have a compass or how to use the compass, then you will never find your points in the land nav course. You will be lost in the Sause. Imagine yourself walking in the thick vegetation, walking in the swamp, walking in the snow, walking in the open field, without a compass. You will be lost and devastated. The compass is amazing device, and it is always pointing the north, and it is always right. And if you trust the compass and follow where it is pointing at, you will always find your point. And just like the land nav course, this world is the land nav of unknown. In this world, you guys were all given different points to find, different purpose of life, different goals to achieve in this world, but if you do not have the compass, or if you do not have God as your compass, you will never find your points, you will never find your peace, you will never find your comfort, and you will never find your purpose in this world of unknown.  During the land nav, if you lose your compass, then you are done you will never find your compass. You don’t have to worry about loosing your compass in this world of unknown, because the Holy Spirit is already in you. God is always in your heart ready to give you a guidance. All you got to do is ask.

How many times do you look at the compass during the land nav course? As often as possible because even one slice degree difference can make a huge difference. In the same way, talk to God in prayer as often as possible. Matter of fact in the Bible in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” So, the first lesson, I want you guys to remember is that we have a privilege to ask God for guidance and God will always give us guidance.

 

B) The second lesson I want you guys to remember is that God will always make a miracle. Let’s read Joshua 9:26-27 26 “So Joshua saved them from the Israelites, and they did not kill them. 27 That day he made the Gibeonites woodcutters and water carriers for the assembly, to provide for the needs of the altar of the Lord at the place the Lord would choose. And that is what they are to this day.” The second lesson I want you guys to remember from today’s scripture is that God will always make miracles even from our mistakes. Joshua and Israelites were not able to eliminate their enemy, Gibeonites because of the treaty they made by a mistake. Because of the Gibeonites, it took a long time for Israelites to conquer the promised land, Canaan. Gibeonites were the torn in the flesh. However, even with the mistake that Israelites made, God showed mercy and grace to the Gibeonites and used them as God’s servants. Eventually many years later, Gibeonites became critically members of Israel in building walls of Jerusalem after the exile.  Let’s read Nehemiah 3:7 “7 Next to them, repairs were made by men from Gibeon and Mizpah—Melatiah of Gibeon and Jadon of Meronoth—places under the authority of the governor of Trans-Euphrates.” The mistake of Israelites became miracle of Jerusalem. That is how amazing God is. He knows how to bring good even when we fail.

When I first came to Fort Drum I was confused. Every building looked the same. Every barracks, even every house looked the same, the street names were similar and even people looked the same. In the first 2-3 months, I was not able to go anywhere without the help of my navigation. Navigation system is an amazing system. All you got to do is type in your destination and it automatically figures out the best and fastest way to get to your destination. Once you put down your location, then it starts telling you, where to do. Things like in the next 100 ft make a left, make a right, make a U-turn thing like that. One time I used my navigation to go to commissary. The navigation told me to make a turn, but I missed it. But when I missed the turn, amazing thing happened. The navigator said, recalculating your route. When I missed the turn again, the navigator said, recalculating your route and showed me another route to get to the commissary. It never said, why don’t you listen to me? Why did you miss the turn? Or I will never tell you the route again!” But instead, it said recalculating your route. It was interesting, no matter how stubborn I was, no matter how much I ignored that lady, she never got mad at me, but she was just kept recalculating the route for me to get to the right destination. If the GPS lady can continually recalculate your route, when we go off course, how much more of our creator of earth recalculate our route when we make mistakes in our life journey? If the navigator doesn’t give up on us, why our heavenly father is going to give up on us?

The mistakes that Israelites made caused a great delay on occupying the promised land. The mistakes that I made for not listening to the GPS lady caused me a delay to get to the commissary. The mistakes that you make in your life may cause a great delay to achieve your goals or destination, but I want you guys to remember that God knows your route and he is continuing to reroute your journey for his purpose. God will never stop recalculating our route for us to get to our destination. Unlike GPS lady, God already knows your end from the beginning. God knew your destination even before you were born. I want you guys to trust in the Lord and believe that there is hope that God will show you mercy and will never give up on you even when you make a mistake but give you guidance.

 

c) The last lesson I want you guys to learn from today’s scripture is that God will always keep his promise.

 

God’s covenant cannot be broken. 2 Samuel 21:1-2 “During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the Lord. The Lord said, “It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death.” 2 The king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not a part of Israel but were survivors of the Amorites; the Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for Israel and Judah had tried to annihilate them.)” 100s and 100s years after the Israelites made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the king Saul who became the first king of Israel, tried to eliminate the Gibeonites. And when that happened, when King Saul tried to kill Gibeonites, when the treaty was broken, there was a curse to the Israelites which was a famine for three successive years. Even when that treaty with Gibeonites were made hundreds of years before David, when the treaty was broken, there was a great curse to Israelites. And the curse could be only stopped when Saul’s seven descendants were punished. What we can learn is that God never forgets the promises that he made.

The Bible is divided into two sections, Old Testament and New Testament. Testament means covenant, which means promise. The Bible is all about how God kept his promises and what promises God has made. Old Testament is all about what promises God has made to the Israelites, and the New Testament is about how the promises were all fulfilled, and what new promises were made. God is all-powerful and all-knowing.  He is able to perform and complete every word He speaks. God also made a great promise to us. And the most important promise that God has made that we should all remember in this world is that (1 John1:9) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God has promised to give us eternal life when we believe in Jesus Christ. We are all sinners, and we have committed so many mistakes in our lives, but there is hope, that God promised whoever believes in him, Jesus Christ, will not perish but have eternal life. Israelites did not deserve to live in the promised land for their mistake, Gibeonites did not deserve to live in the promised land because they were gentiles, we don’t deserve to live in the promise land, heaven because of our sins, but God is merciful and made a promise that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. I want you guys to know that you are saved because of the promise God has made, and God will always keep his promises. God will always be with you. God will always guide, and God will always forgive you, protect you and love you.

As I conclude the sermon, praise team please come up, I want all of you guys to remember the three things today. First, God will always give a guidance. In order to ask for the guidance, we all need to pray. The prayer doesn’t have to be complicated; it doesn’t always have to be eyes crossed, and hands together. You don’t have to use the fancy words, it doesn’t have to be long, but pray, continually pray, just like how you continually check your compass during land nav. Second, remember that God will always make a miracle. Don’t be discouraged by the mistakes you made in relationship, finance, at work, family, or whatever it may be, trust in Lord that he will make a miracle out of your mistakes, that God will give you comfort, give you peace and give you strength. I made a lot of mistakes in the army, but God still called me to be a Chaplain to lead and guide our Soldiers so that they don’t make mistakes that I made. The mistakes that I made became miracle that it became part of my sermon. Lastly remember that God will always keep his promises. There are so many promises that God has made, in order to know what promises he has made, you have to read the Bible. However, the ultimate promise that we should all remember is that (1 John1:9) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That promise will never be broken, just like how God fulfilled all his promises made to Israelites. So I need you guys to go and make disciples of all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them everything that God has commanded us, so that we all can go to the promised land, heaven.

우리 모두는 인생에서 실수를 합니다. 우리는 그것에 동의할 수 있습니까? 우리는 일생 동안 항상 올바른 길이나 올바른 결정을 선택하지는 않지만 많은 경우 실수를 합니다. 저도 자라면서 실수를 많이 했고, 처음 군대를 갔을 때도 실수를 많이 했다. 저는 2008년에 PFC로 군대에 입대했는데 PFC로서 저지른 실수 중 하나는 비디오 게임을 하면서 막사에 머물렀던 것입니다. 제 첫 근무지였던 조지아주 포트 베닝에서 2년 동안 저는 애틀랜타, 사바나, 심지어 조지아주 콜럼버스 같은 지역을 탐험할 생각을 하지 않았습니다. 하지만 막사에서 비디오 게임을 하며 지냈어요. 나는 BOSS 프로그램, MWR 행사를 전혀 이용하지 않았고, 그 지역을 탐험하기 위해 군목 프로그램에 갈 생각조차 하지 않았고, 그냥 막사에 머물면서 비디오 게임을 했습니다. 그게 내가 군대에서 저지른 첫 번째 실수였다. 조지아주 포트 베닝 이후 1년 동안 한국의 캠프 호비에 주둔했고 SPC로 승진했고 1년 후 뉴욕 포트 드럼에 제3의 임무를 맡게 되었습니다. 고금리로 비싼 차를 사던 이곳 드럼에서 또 실수를 저질렀습니다. 오늘 우리가 읽은 성경 말씀은 여호수아와 이스라엘 백성이 하나님께 인도를 구하지 않은 실수를 저질렀다는 내용입니다. 성경에서 하나님께서는 여호수아와 이스라엘 백성들에게 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 주시겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 하지만 문제가 있었습니다. 그리고 문제는 하나님께서 약속하신 땅에 이미 살고 있는 사람들이 있다는 것입니다. 그래서 이스라엘 백성은 하나님께서 약속하신 땅을 차지하기 위해 백성들과 싸워 그들을 몰아내야 했습니다. 그래서 먼저 이스라엘 백성들이 여리고를 정복하고 아이를 정복했고 이제 기브온을 정복할 때가 되었습니다. 기브온 사람들은 하나님이 함께하심을 알았기 때문에 이스라엘 백성을 이길 수 없다는 것을 알았습니다. 그래서 기브온 사람들은 낡은 옷을 입고 낡은 신발을 신고 상한 음식을 가지고 다니며 가나안 땅에서 멀리 떨어진 사람으로 변장하고 변장하기로 합니다. 여호수아 9장 12-13절을 읽어봅시다. 그러나 지금 그것이 얼마나 건조하고 곰팡이가 있는지 보십시오. 13 우리가 포도주를 담은 이 가죽부대도 새 것이었으나 보소서 그것이 얼마나 찢어졌나이까 그리고 우리의 옷과 신발은 매우 긴 여행으로 인해 낡아졌습니다.” 그래서 기브온 사람들은 이스라엘 사람들이 자신들이 가나안 땅에서 멀리 떨어져 살고 있고 그들이 이스라엘에게 위협이 되지 않는다고 믿기를 원했습니다. 그리고 이스라엘 백성은 자신의 관찰에 의존하고 “여호와께 지도를 구”하지 않았기 때문에 속았습니다.

가)여러분이 기억하기를 바라는 가장 놀라운 것 중 하나는 우리가 하나님께 인도를 구할 특권이 있다는 것입니다.

우리는 우주의 창조주 하나님께 물을 특권이 있고, 주권자이시며 모든 것을 아시는 하나님, 우주의 왕이시며 만왕의 왕이신 하나님께 구할 특권이 있고, 하나님은 우리에게 인도를 구할 특권을 주셨습니다.

 

. 마지막으로 Biden 대통령과 지침을 이야기한 것이 언제였습니까? 마지막으로 사단장 앤더슨 장군에게 지침을 요청한 것이 언제인지, 또는 지침을 위해 DIV CSM Mobar에 마지막으로 전화한 것이 언제인지. 여기 군대에서나 Fort Drum에서 우리는 지도자들과 개인적으로 대화할 기회가 거의 없지만 만왕의 왕이신 하늘 아버지는 우리와 대화하기를 원하시고 매 순간 우리를 인도하기를 원하십니다. 얼마나 놀라운 일입니까?

 

군대에서 배운 것 중 하나가 내비게이션 착륙이다. 나는 모든 사람들이 적어도 한 번은 그것을 확신합니다. 내비게이션 중에는 군대에서 배운 것 중 하나가 내비게이션 사용법이다.

 

내비게이션 중에는 모든 사람이 적어도 3-4개의 서로 다른 지점을 찾아야 합니다. 그리고 자신의 포인트를 찾기 위해서는 나침반이 있어야 하고 나침반 사용법을 알아야 합니다. 당신이 얼마나 똑똑하고, 당신이 더 강하고, 당신이 얼마나 잘 생겼는지, 얼마나 아름다웠는지, 당신이 얼마나 젊고 늙었는지, 나침반이 없거나 나침반을 사용하는 방법이 없다면, 당신은 결코 당신의 포인트를 찾을 수 없을 것입니다.

 

 나침반 없이 무성한 초목 속을 걷고, 늪지 속을 걷고, 눈 속을 걷고, 탁 트인 들판을 걷는 자신을 상상해 보십시오. 당신은 길을 잃고 황폐해질 것입니다. 나침반은 놀라운 장치이며 항상 북쪽을 가리키고 있으며 항상 옳습니다. 그리고 나침반을 믿고 나침반이 가리키는 곳을 따라가면 항상 요점을 찾을 수 있습니다.

 

 그리고 내비게이션 코스와 마찬가지로 이 세계도 미지의 세상입니다. 이 세상에서 우리 모두가 찾아야 할 다른 지점, 다른 삶의 목적, 이 세상에서 달성해야 할 다른 목표가 주어졌지만 하나님의 나침반이 아니면 결코 당신의 요점을 찾으면, 당신은 결코 당신의 평화를 찾지 못할 것이며, 당신은 결코 당신의 위안을 찾지 못할 것이며, 이 미지의 세계에서 당신의 목적을 결코 찾지 못할 것입니다. 육지 탐색 중에 나침반을 잃어버리면 나침반을 찾을 수 없습니다. 이 미지의 세계에서 나침반을 잃어버릴까 봐 걱정할 필요가 없습니다. 성령님이 이미 내 안에 계시기 때문입니다. 하나님은 항상 당신의 마음속에 당신을 인도할 준비가 되어 계십니다. 당신이 해야 할 일은 물어보는 것뿐입니다.

 

내비게이션 코스에서 나침반을 몇 번이나 보시나요? 가능한 한 자주 나침반을 모아야 합니다. 왜냐면 미미한 정도 각도 차이가 큰 차이를 만들 수 있기 때문입니다.

 

마찬가지로 가능한 한 자주 기도로 하나님께 이야기하십시오. 데살로니가전서 5장 16-18절에 보면 “항상 기뻐하라 쉬지 말고 기도하라 범사에 감사하라 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라”고 했습니다. 그래서 첫 번째 교훈은 여러분이 기억하기를 바랍니다. 우리는 하나님께 인도를 구할 특권이 있으며 하나님은 항상 우리를 인도하실 것입니다.

 

나) 여러분이 기억하기를 바라는 두 번째 교훈은 하나님은 항상 기적을 행하신다는 것입니다. 여호수아 9장 26-27절을 읽어봅시다. 27 그 날에 그가 기브온 사람으로 회중을 위하여 나무 베는 자와 물 긷는 자를 삼아 여호와께서 택하실 곳에서 여호와의 제단의 쓸 것을 공급하게 하였더라 그리고 그것이 오늘날까지 이어지고 있더라.”

 

 오늘 본문에서 여러분이 기억하기를 바라는 두 번째 교훈은 하나님은 우리의 실수에서도 항상 기적을 행하신다는 것입니다. 여호수아와 이스라엘 백성은 실수로 맺은 조약 때문에 적 기브온 사람들을 제거하지 못했습니다. 기브온 사람들로 인해 이스라엘 백성들이 약속의 땅 가나안을 정복하는 데 오랜 시간이 걸렸습니다. 기브온 사람들은 육체를 쏘는 가시같은 존재이기도 했습니다. 그러나 이스라엘 백성의 잘못에도 불구하고 하나님께서는 기브온 사람들에게 긍휼과 은혜를 베푸시어 그들을 하나님의 종으로 사용하셨습니다.

 

결국 오랜 세월 후, 기브온 사람들은 포로기 이후에 예루살렘 성벽을 쌓는 데 결정적으로 이스라엘의 노동력을 제공했습니다. 느헤미야 3장 7절을 읽어봅시다. 이스라엘 백성의 실수는 예루살렘의 기적이 되었습니다. 그만큼 하나님은 놀라운 분입니다. 그분은 우리가 실패할 때에도 선을 가져오는 방법을 아십니다.

 

Fort Drum에 처음 왔을 때 저는 혼란스러웠습니다. 모든 건물이 똑같아 보였다. 병영도, 집도 다 똑같고, 거리 이름도 비슷하고, 사람도 똑같아 보였다. 처음 2~3개월 동안은 내비게이션 없이는 아무데도 갈 수 없었습니다. 내비게이션 시스템은 놀라운 시스템입니다. 목적지를 입력하기만 하면 자동으로 목적지까지 가는 최선의 가장 빠른 길을 찾아줍니다. 당신이 당신의 위치를 적어 놓으면 어디로 가야할지 알려줍니다. 다음 100피트에서 좌회전, 우회전, U턴 등이 있습니다. 한 번은 매점에 가기 위해 내비게이션을 사용했습니다. 내비게이션에서 방향을 바꾸라고 했지만 놓쳤습니다. 그런데 차례를 놓쳤을 때 놀라운 일이 일어났습니다. 네비게이터가 경로를 다시 계산하면서 말했습니다. 내가 다시 차례를 놓쳤을 때, 내비게이터는 당신의 경로를 다시 계산하고 매점으로 가는 다른 경로를 보여주면서 말했습니다. 왜 내 말을 듣지 않지? 왜 차례를 놓쳤습니까? 아니면 다시는 경로를 알려주지 않겠습니다!” 그러나 대신 경로를 다시 계산한다고 말했습니다. 내가 아무리 고집을 부려도, 아무리 그 여자를 무시해도, 그녀는 나에게 화를 내지 않고, 내가 올바른 목적지에 도달할 수 있도록 계속해서 경로를 다시 계산할 뿐이라는 점이 흥미로웠습니다.

내가 GPS 아가씨의 음성을 듣지 않은 실수 때문에 매점에 도착하는 데 시간이 지체되었습니다. 인생에서 저지른 실수로 인해 목표나 목적지를 달성하는 데 큰 지연이 생길 수 있지만, 하나님은 당신의 길을 아시고 그분의 목적을 위해 계속해서 당신의 여정을 바꾸신다는 것을 기억하기를 바랍니다. 하나님은 우리가 목적지에 도달할 수 있도록 경로를 재계산하는 것을 결코 멈추지 않으실 것입니다.

 

GPS 레이디와 달리 신은 이미 처음부터 당신의 끝을 알고 있습니다. 하나님은 당신이 태어나기도 전에 당신의 목적지를 아셨습니다. 하나님께서 여러분에게 긍휼을 베푸시고, 여러분이 실수를 하더라도 여러분을 인도해 주실지라도 결코 포기하지 않으실 것이라는 희망이 있다는 것을 주님을 신뢰하고 믿으시기 바랍니다.

 

3. 오늘 본문에서 여러분이 배우기를 바라는 마지막 교훈은 하나님은 반드시 약속을 지키신다는 것입니다. 하나님의 언약은 깨질 수 없습니다.

 

삼하 21:1-2 “다윗 시대에 연속 삼 년 동안 기근이 들었다. 그래서 다윗은 주님의 얼굴을 찾았습니다. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. 그가 기브온 사람들을 죽였기 때문입니다.” 2 왕이 기브온 사람들을 불러 그들에게 말하였다. (기브온 사람은 이스라엘에 속하지 아니하고 아모리 사람의 생존자라 이스라엘 사람은 그들을 살리기로 맹세하였으나 사울이 이스라엘과 유다를 위하여 열심을 내어 그들을 멸하려 하였더라)” 기브온 사람들과 맺은 조약, 이스라엘의 초대 왕이 된 사울 왕은 기브온 사람들을 없애려고 했습니다. 그리고 그 일이 일어났을 때, 사울 왕이 기브온 사람들을 죽이려고 했을 때, 그 조약이 깨졌을 때, 이스라엘 사람들에게 저주가 내려져 3년 연속 기근이 들었습니다. 그 기브온 사람들과의 조약이 다윗보다 수백 년 전에 맺어졌을 때에도 그 조약이 파기되었을 때 이스라엘 백성들에게는 큰 저주가 있었습니다. 그리고 그 저주는 사울의 일곱 자손이 교수형을 당함으로써 멈출 수 있었습니다. 우리가 배울 수 있는 것은 하느님께서는 자신이 한 약속을 결코 잊지 않으신다는 것입니다.

 

성경은 구약과 신약의 두 부분으로 나뉩니다. 유언은 약속을 의미하는 언약을 의미합니다. 성경은 하나님이 어떻게 약속을 지키셨는지, 어떤 약속을 하셨는지에 관한 모든 것입니다. 구약은 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들에게 하신 약속에 관한 내용이고, 신약은 그 약속이 어떻게 성취되었으며, 어떤 새로운 약속을 하셨는지에 대한 내용입니다. 하나님은 전능하시고 전지하십니다. 그분은 말씀하시는 모든 말씀을 이루시고 완성하실 수 있습니다. 하나님께서도 우리에게 큰 약속을 하셨습니다. 그리고 이 세상에서 우리 모두가 기억해야 할 하나님의 가장 중요한 약속은(요일 1:9) “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 저를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하소서.” 하나님은 우리가 예수 그리스도를 믿을 때 영생을 주시겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 우리는 모두 죄인이고 우리의 삶에서 많은 잘못을 저질렀지만 하나님께서 약속하신 예수 그리스도를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻을 것이라는 소망이 있습니다. 이스라엘 백성은 그들의 잘못으로 인해 약속의 땅에 살 자격이 없었고, 기브온 사람들은 이방인이었기 때문에 약속의 땅에 살 자격이 없었고, 우리는 죄 때문에 약속의 땅 천국에 살 자격이 없었지만 하나님은 자비로우시며 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하신다고 약속하셨습니다. 여러분이 하나님의 약속으로 말미암아 구원을 받았고 하나님은 그 약속을 반드시 지키신다는 사실을 여러분이 알기를 바랍니다. 하나님은 항상 당신과 함께하실 것입니다. 하나님은 항상 인도하실 것이며 하나님은 항상 여러분을 용서하고 보호하고 사랑하실 것입니다.

 

결론)

 여러분 모두 오늘 이 세 가지를 기억하시기 바랍니다.

 

1)첫째, 하나님은 항상 인도하실 것입니다. 인도를 구하려면 우리 모두는 기도해야 합니다. 기도는 복잡할 필요가 없습니다. 항상 눈을 마주하고 손을 함께 할 필요는 없습니다. 거창한 말을 할 필요도 없고, 길 필요도 없지만, 육지 항해 중에 나침반을 계속 확인하듯 기도하고, 계속해서 기도하십시오.

 

2)둘째, 하나님은 언제나 기적을 행하신다는 사실을 기억하십시오. 관계, 재정, 직장, 가족 또는 무엇이든 간에 당신이 저지른 실수로 인해 낙심하지 마십시오. 주님이 당신의 실수로부터 기적을 일으키실 것이며, 하나님께서 당신에게 위로와 평안을 주실 것을 믿으십시오. 그리고 힘을 주십시오. 나는 군대에서 많은 실수를 저질렀지만, 하나님께서는 여전히 저를 군목으로 부르셔서 우리 장병들이 제가 저지른 실수를 범하지 않도록 인도하고 인도하셨습니다. 내가 저지른 실수가 내 설교의 일부가 되는 기적이 되었습니다.

 

3))마지막으로 하나님은 항상 약속을 지키실 것임을 기억하십시오. 하나님께서 하신 약속이 너무 많은데 어떤 약속을 하셨는지 알려면 성경을 읽어야 합니다. 그러나 우리 모두가 기억해야 할 궁극적인 약속은 (요일 1:9) “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 저를 믿는 자마다 멸망치 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이니라”는 것입니다. 그 약속은 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성에게 하신 모든 약속을 이루신 것처럼 결코 깨지지 않을 것입니다.

 

마28:18~20절 말씀도 그렇습니다.

 

18.예수께서 나아와 말씀하여 이르시되 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 내게 주셨으니

19.그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 침례를 베풀고

20.내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 볼지어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라.

 

아들 하나님, 예수께서는 항상 우리와 함께하십니다. 오늘도 역사하시고 기도를 들으시고

하나님의 나라를 확장하고 계십니다.  우리의 예배와 헌신을 받으십니다. 우리와 함께하시겠다고 하신 이 놀라운 약속을 의심하지 마시길 바랍니다.  할렐루야! 아멘!
