How to become a blessed person

1 

Blessed is the one
 who does not walk in the steps with the wicked
or stands in the way that sinners take
 or sits in the company of mockers,

2 

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.

3 

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
    which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

4 

Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.

5 

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
 nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

I bought two GPS systems which I never used before when I was in Korea. The first one I bought was “okay” so I gave it to my Son and I bought a newer one recently and it works very well.

In fact, our life is just like a complex traffic system, without the guide (or GPS) we cannot find the right way. So what would be the guide for our life? The Bible will be your guide...

 

 In 2 Timothy chapter 3 says “16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

We only live once, so we need to read bible which is our guide line for life and to live right the life.

A Theologian Tony Kampolo asked 50 95 year old people that if you get a chance to live again how would you want to live? Some said “I will repent everyday.” And some said, “I want to live my life with courage.” And the other said “I want to make some legacy to the world.” Most of people regret their life in the end and that is why we have to listen/read God’s words and live right way of life.

1.      Admit the fact that God created us.

We need to admit that the God made us in Genesis chapter 1 verse 26 and 27 says 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.  And in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7 says 7 Then the Lord God formed a man[c] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

God didn’t just create us but also breathe new life into us by himself. That’s why us the humans is the most precious creature among the living animals. If you say where we a from single cell organism” and believe in that and live like an animal you are making mistake.

We have to live ethically because we were created from God’s image.

Evolution is part of process on how things create; it is not the all of the Evolution.

Psalms chapter 8 verse

6 says

“You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
    you put everything under their[a] feet:”

In Genesis chapter 1 verse 28 says “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” The God’s purpose of create us is to serve God and praise him.

 

 ISAIAH CHAPTER 43 VERSE 7 SAYS

“Everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made.”

Also on verse 21 says “the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”

So you and me wasn’t just made by accident or from some happening we made by God and his own purpose.

2.Praise the lord

Psalms chapter 1 verse 1 says “Blessed is the one

The sinners in this verse are people who deny existence of God. They are greedy, for the money they easily murder other people. They think themselves as God. However we have to live by the guidance of the Holy sprit.

Psalms chapter 1 verse 2-3 says “but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither whatever they do prospers.”

In this verse the “law of the Lord” is the Laws from the Moses era but in present we have to include old and New Testament. So it is good to live as what 66 books of bible taught us.

Okay some people probably asked us all 66 books those are too many it is impossible to remember all the things! But don’t worry Jesus gave two verses to clarify what the bible basically says. Mark chapter 12 verse 30 and 31 says 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[f] 31 the second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[g] There is no commandment greater than these.” And I will simplify this little bit more “Love God, Jesus, and your neighbor as yourself!”

Joshua 1:8 say “8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

France Historian Alain Corbin says, “Countries that are built on Christian ideology were blessed and they became world powers.” Like Swiss, U.S, and British.

Look at the others who didn’t accept God they are generally poor than the Countries like U.S, and Swiss.

 

Rockefeller was a rich person but evil, even president Roosevelt said “If Rockefeller did many good things, he will never able to make up all the bad things he has done.” When Rockefeller was on his age of 55, he got a fatal disease and doctor said he could only live one more year. one day when he went to hospital to check on his physical status he saw a banner on the wall that said “A person who is giving is blessed than a receiver.” And then he saw a weeping lady in the hospital and she said her daughter is dying but she doesn’t have enough money to afford to save her. Then Rockefeller told his secretary to give money that she needed. The secretary was surprised because Rockefeller never did a good thing like that before. After that He became a Christian and built 4928 churches that include Riverside church and many schools. He was supposed to live till 56 but he lived till he was 98 years old on this earth how amazing? Obey God’s word and God will pour blessings on you.

2.      Do as God’s will

In Luke there is a story about a ignorant rich person

16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

 

There are four reasons that made him ignorant.

First, he does not have God in his heart

Secondly, He did not believe in afterlife

Thirdly, He didn’t care about his soul

Fourthly, He didn’t have a neighbor; love towards neighbors is same as love towards God.

And God tells him like this 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

 

So what is most important core of God’s will that we should follow? John 6:40      40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Without Jesus there is no happiness, even if we are rich at the end we cannot take it with us. Money can make our life bit convenience but cannot give a true happiness. Jesus and salvation and heaven should be there for our true happiness. You want the other things? Which is meaningless compare to Jesus? Now please comeback to Jesus!! Amen

 

We must serve God until death and with all our hearts. So we can live without regrets, and only blessing from the God.
