Because of you(Isaiah 53: 1-11)
“Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.”
Predicting is guessing something will happen in the future. In my experience, 60~70% of Shamans’ predicts about the future, which by power of demon are correct. But the word of God is always correct. So if some shaman tells you that you are going to die at the age of 70 and maybe the shaman is right or not but if God said so you will die on the age of 70 Isaiah chapter 53 predicted when Jesus would be born and how he dies and why he died 700 years before he came. First verse starts with examination. It says Messiah will come but many people, but many won’t believe him. Plus Ironically it says people will also treat him the way he doesn’t deserve to be treated. Through verse 4-6 tells us that Jesus will be coming to save people from their sins and corruption and the hardships that stands in front of him are because of us, not because of him. Also verse 10 to 12 says Jesus will die because of us.
Many Jews think that Jesus died because he is claimed to be the Son of God, so he punished. This is the reason why many Jewish people don’t believe in Jesus.
But Isaiah 53:4 says:
“4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.”
Here is the key point of salvation.
People who believe that Jesus died for our sins will receive salvation. on the other hand people who believe that Jesus died because of his own sin were not. We have to confess that Jesus died for me and you.
One of disciple Matthew says in Matthew 8:16-17 “16 when the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sickness. “We the humans get sick or disease because of the sin.
Genesis 3:17
“17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life”
The sin that human made brought disease into the Earth this we call Original Sin.
Isaiah 53:6
“6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Youth group from some churches in countryside went to the beach with few other churches. During bible study the teachers and students were to read the same text that we have for today’s sermon. And they were to put their names instead of ‘us’ in the text. They read it again and again and all of sudden one of student started to cry, the tear of repentance, then all the people who were in the bible study starts to cry. The people didn’t exactly know why Jesus died suddenly. They understand and because of that they were able to say from their bottom of their heart, “Jesus is our savior.” Why Isaiah said we are like sheep? Sheep are terribly near-sighted, so they are not good at finding directions they easily fall over a cliff or hit their heads against the fence. That is why Isaiah said we are like them; before we met God we didn’t see the way and right direction.
One day someone sent mails to 12 famous people in U.S and in the letter. In the letter it says, “Everything is unveiled run.” And the next morning he visited 12 people’s houses and their entire house was empty. It means everyone has his or her dark secrets. Me? Yes, I am also included in category that everybody falls into.
Romans 3:10-18,23-26
“10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
“23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”
Isaiah 53:6
“6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Why God sent Jesus to the Earth? Because he loves us, he has unconditional love on his creature.
John 3:16-17
“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
Our God sacrificed his own son to save us, hardships of Jesus is climax and highlight and perfection of love.
The lamest thing in history of mankind is slavery. Long time ago in U.S when the slavery still existed. There was some girl who has half of African blood and half of white blood, when she reached her age of 20 her owner passed away so she transferred to an auction. Then some gentle men bought her for $1200 consider during that era it was worth about 1200 dollar which was huge amount of money. She followed him as her new master. The gentleman wrote a document proving the girl’s freedom and said “now you are set free.” She couldn’t believe him so she didn’t even look at him and said, “Please don’t lie.” After few explain she figured out that she is really became free! Few years later she became a Christian and she said I feel the more joy when she finally met Jesus.
Yes, Jesus took our sins and every pain, He cried for us and he died because of our sin. In other word he took all the burdens in our life.
The blood that he shed because of us washed our sins. This blood was paid for you! And Me. When we believe this we will become children of God.
If anyone still hesitates to believe Jesus today pleases believe that Jesus died because of your sin. Right the moment you confess it and believe in it you will receive salvation. Lets become children of God today.
And those who already believe in God we have to always thank to God and share his love with your neighbor and even with your enemy. Please work as the light and salt of this world. Like Jesus, love everyone.
