9.    사무엘이 젖 먹는 어린 양 하나를 가져다가 온전한 번제를 여호와께 드리고 이스라엘을 위하여 여호와께 부르짖으매 여호와께서 응답하셨더라 10. 사무엘이 번제를 드릴 때에 블레셋 사람이 이스라엘과 싸우려고 가까이 오매 그 날에 여호와께서 블레셋 사람에게 큰 우레를 발하여 그들을 어지럽게 하시니 그들이 이스라엘 앞에 패한지라

 

11.이스라엘 사람들이 미스바에서 나가서 블레셋 사람들을 추격하여 벧갈 아래에 이르기까지 쳤더라 12.사무엘이 돌을 취하여 미스바와 센 사이에 세워 이르되 여호와께서 여기까지 우리를 도우셨다 하고 그 이름을 에벤에셀이라 하니라 13.이에 블레셋 사람들이 굴복하여 다시는 이스라엘 지역 안에 들어오지 못하였으며 여호와의 손이 사무엘이 사는 날 동안에 블레셋 사람을 막으시매 14.블레셋 사람들이 이스라엘에게서 빼앗았던 성읍이 에그론부터 가드까지 이스라엘에게 회복되니 이스라엘이 그 사방 지역을 블레셋 사람들의 손에서 도로 찾았고 또 이스라엘과 아모리 사람 사이에 평화가 있었더라

 

서론)

날마다 우리가 맞이하는 시간과 세월들은 우리 스스로 만들어내거나 돈으로 사지 아니하고 ‘하나님께 서 우리에게 주신 선물’이라는 점을 생각하면 참으로 놀랍고 신기하기만 합니다.

또  유명한 스페인의 극작가 세르반테스는 “하나님이 우리 인간에게 주신 최대의 선물은 '자유'이다”라고 한 바 있습니다. 이 자유가 인간들에게 주어질 때, 사람은 비로소 하나님의 주신 권리 와 혜택을 다 누릴 수 있을 것입니다. 예수의 복음이 우리를 자유케 했습니다. 그러므로 하나 님으로부터 거저 주어진 시간 속에서 참 자유를 누리는 것은 그 무엇과도 바꿀 수 없는 은혜요 행복입니다.

 

오늘 본문에 보면 이스라엘 백성이 오랜 기간 동안 ‘블레셋’에게 고통을 당했습니다. 블레셋 사람들은 이스라엘 백성들이 농사를 지어 놓으면 갑자기 쳐들어와서 곡식을 빼앗아가고, 짐승 을 길러 놓으면 또 그 가축들을 약탈해 가기가 일쑤였습니다. 그리고 가족들이 납치를 당해 노예 생활을 해야 한 적도 너무나 많았습니다.

 

사무엘 선지자 때엔 ‘하나님의 법궤’조차 블레셋에게 빼앗기게 되었고 이스라엘은 말할 수 없는 절망과 좌절에 빠지기도 했습니다.

그때 사무엘이 ‘미스바’라는 지역에 온 백성을 모아 놓고, 하나님께 제단을 쌓고 제사를 온전히 드렸습니다. 그리고 하나님께 간절히 부르짖어 기도하였습니다. 그러자 하나님은 이스라엘 백성들의 기도를 들어주시게 됩니다. 마침내 하나님께서 그들에게 큰 은총을 베푸셔서 하나 님께서 친히 블레셋을 모조리 진멸시키고 이스라엘 백성에게 승리를 주셨습니다. 사무엘은 너무너무 이 은혜가 감사해서 돌을 주워서 ‘미스바와 센’ 지역 사이에 기념비를 세워놓고 ‘에벤에셀 (여호와께서 여기까지 우리를 도우셨다)’이라 부르며 하나님 앞에 더욱 감사를 드렸습니다.
우리도 오늘 지금까지, 2022년 한 해 동안 온갖 환난과 수고와 재난 중에도 우리를 지키고 보호하신 하나님께 대해 ‘에벤에셀의 하나님’께 감사와 찬양을 올려 드려야 할 줄 믿습니다.

먼저 우리는 우리 하나님은 변하거나 거짓이 없으심을 감사드려야 합니다. 세상은 믿기 힘든 경우가 많습니다. 부자간에도 그렇습니다. (목욕탕에서 아! 물이 참 시원하다! 고 하는 아빠를 믿고 물에 들어갔다가 뜨거워 놀라서 얼른 나온 어린 아들 왈-세상에! 참말로 믿을 놈 하나 없네!라고 함. 벌거벗고 있어도 돈은 꼭 세어 보라!라든가,ㅎㅎ)

(우리는 무엇이든 할 수 있다고 큰 소리를 쳐보지만…… 하나님의 능력이 아니면 뭐 하나 제대로 할 수가 있습니다. 고로 항상 에벤에셀의 하나님을 바라보아야 합니다. 오늘은 이 하나님을 바라보는 방법 3가지에 대해 나누고자 합니다. )

 

본론)

가)불신의 죄를 벗어 버려야 합니다.

사무엘 때엔 이스라엘 백성들은 모든 이방신과 죄악을 벗어버렸습니다.  이스라엘 백성들은 그들이 지금까지 몰래 섬겼던 바알과 아스다롯 등 수많은 이방신들이 무능하고 악한 것들임을 깨닫고 하나님만을 바라보았습니다. 그러자 하나님은 그들의 기도를 들어주셨다고 했습니다.

 

하나님은 얼마나 내가 의로우냐만을 묻지 않으십니다. 누구나 허물이 잇습니다. 단지 내가 얼 마나 그런 죄를 철저하게 뉘우치고 회개했느냐 하는 것을 우리에게 물으십니다. 하나님은 죄가 전혀 없거나 아주 적은 사람만 당신에게로 오라고 하지 않으셨습니다. 죄인들도 어서 다 오라 고 하십니다. 고로 이사야 1:18= "여호와께서 말씀하시되, 오라 우리가 서로 변론하자. 너희 죄가 주홍 같을지라 도 눈과 같이 희어질 것이요, 진홍 같이 붉을지라도 양털같이 되리라."고 하셨습니다. 하나님은 죄가 없는 의인도 찾으시지만, 죄가 있으되 회개하는 사람을 기뻐 찾으 십니다. 어떤 분은 죄가 너무 많아 못 믿는다는 분이 있습니다. 그래서 계속 죄 중에 있다가 지옥불에 던져지면 누가 손해일까요? ( 때가 많아 목욕탕에 못 간다는 격, 결국 사회에서 분리될 뿐). 아무리 많은 죄, 오래 묵은 죄도 예수님의 십자가 보혈은 능히 다 씻을 수 있음을 믿으시길 바랍니다. 할렐루야!

 

우리가 에벤에셀의 하나님을 바라보려면 먼저 나의 부족함과 나의 게으름과 나의 죄를 시인하 고 토해내야 합니다. 죄를 전심으로 회개할 때, 하나님께서는 자비와 긍휼을 베풀어 주십니다. 하나님과의 관계를 가로막는 것은 죄입니다. 여러 모양의 죄를 회개하고 하나님을 온전히 바라 보게 될 때, 우리도 에벤에셀의 하나님을 만나게 될 줄 믿으시길 바랍니다.

 

나) 어떤 어려움 중에도 하나님은 능히 기도를 들으신다.
"사무엘이 가로되, 온 이스라엘은 미스바로 모이라. 내가 너희를 위하여 여호와께 기도하리라 하매"(삼상 7:5)라고 했습니다.

 

 당시 블레셋은 이스라엘을 사방으로 포위하여 저들의 생명을 마지막 궁지로 몰아넣었습니다. 그런 급박함 가운데 사무엘 선지자는 온 이스라엘 백성을 미스바에 모아서 '내가 너희를 위하 여 여호와께 기도하리라'고 했습니다. 기도하는 것, 곧 회개하는 것이 이스라엘 민족이 블레셋 의 손에서 구원 받는 최선의 방법이었다는 것입니다. 하나님은 우리가 어떤 위기에 처해도 살아가는 방법을 주셨습니다.  그것이 무엇? 바로 그것이 바로 기도인줄 믿으시기 바랍니다.

우리가 하나님께 기도할 때, 우리는 하나님의 능력의 힘으로 연결되게 됩니다. 하나님의

능력은 바로 기도하는 곳에 역사하는 줄 믿으시기 바랍니다. 우리의 기도는 하나님의 보좌를 움직인다고 했습니다. 기도하면 하나님의 일하심이 우리와 함께하심을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

2022년을 마감하는 이 자리에서 꼭 필요한 바로 기도함-입니다. 그리하면 하나님께서 더 좋은 길을 여러분에게 주실 줄로 반드시 믿으시기 바랍니다.

예레미야 33:3="너는 내게 부르짖으라. 내가 네게 응답하겠고, 네가 알 지 못하는 크고 비밀 한 일을 네게 보이리라."고 말씀했습니다.

욥기 8:5,7=하나님을 부지런히 구할 때 창대함을 주신다-고 했습니다. 그냥 쉬고 앉아서 자 고 먹고 놀고 올드 랭 사인을 부른다고 ‘창대함’을 주시진 않습니다. 할렐루야!

 

또 예수님은 (마 7:7)에서,  "구하라, 그러면 너희에게 주실 것이요. 찾으라, 그러면 찾을 것이 요. 문을 두드리라, 그러면 너희에게 열릴 것이니"라고 말씀했습니다. 여러분, 구하고 찾고 두드리는 것은 무엇을 의미하겠습니까? 온 힘을 다하고 최선을 다하여 기도하는 것입니다.  

사도행전 4:31= 빌기를 다 하매 모인 곳이 진동했다-고 했습니다. 사도행전 16장= 사도 바울이 빌립보 옥중에서 기도할 때에 옥터가 움직이고, 옥문이 열리며 착고가 풀어졌다 했습 니다. 모든 결박이 풀어졌습니다. 조금 전만 해도 바울을 옥에 집어 넣고 살기등등하던 간수가 무릎을 꿇고 벌벌 떨면서 '선생들이여, 내가 어떻게 하여 구원을 받겠습니까?'하고 무릎을 꿇고 머리를 조아렸습니다. 이것은 바로 기도와 하나님의 위대한 역사임을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

오늘도 하나님은 여러분과 제가 하나님과 가까이 기도하기를 원하십니다. 기도로 대화하기를 원하십니다. 기도로 새 소망을 얻기를 원하십니다. 기도로 사랑을 나누길 원하시는 줄 믿으시 길 바랍니다. 하나님은 기도하는 사람에게는 계시의 은사를 주십니다. 신령한 은사도 부어주십 니다. 하나님의 능력은 무한하십니다.

 

고로 사무엘도 위기에 처했을 때 기도로 나아갔습니다. 창과 칼이나 마병을 더 모르거나 의지하지 않았습니다. 그러자 하나님께서 역사하셨다고 했습니다. 

 

또 한가지 우리가 기억해야 할 것은 우리가 원하는 것도 기도해야 하지만, 하나님이 원하시는 것을 더 기도해야 할 줄 믿습니다. 사도 바울은 먹고 입고 마시며 사는 모든 것이 다 하 나님의 영광을 위한 것(고전 10:31) 이야 한다고 했습니다. 스튜어트 케네디-란 분은 “기도는 우리가 원하는 바를 얻는 쉬운 길이 아니라 하나님이 원하시는 대로 되는 유일한 길이다.-라고 말한 바 있다고 했습니다. 내 기도가 잘 안되면 하나님의 방법과 하나님의 소원을 다시금 생각하며 기도하시길 바랍니다.

 

다)셋째, 하나님 앞에 예배하는 습관을 가져야 합니다.
"사무엘이 번제를 드릴 때에 블레셋 사람이 이스라엘과 싸우려고 가까이 오매 그 날에 여호와 께서 블레셋 사람에게 큰 우뢰를 발하여 그들을 어지럽게 하시니 그들 이 이스라엘 앞에 패한지라"(10절)라고 했습니다.

 

 여러분, 사무엘이 하나님의 도우심을 구할 때, 무엇을 하였습니까? 번제를 드려를 드렸다고 했습니다. 번제는 오늘날엔 예배로 그 형태가 변경되긴 했지만, 번제나 예배나 다 같은 이치와 마음의 자세는 동일합니다.  구약시대엔 번제가 속죄제요 화목제였습니다.  오늘날엔 하나님을 가장 가까이 만나고 응답받을 수 있는 행위 중의 대표적인 행위가 ‘예배’입니다.

 

요한복음 4:23="아버지께 참으로 예배하는 자들은 신령과 진정으로 예배할 때가 오나니, 곧 이 때라. 아버지께서는 이렇게 자기에게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라."고 말씀했습니다. 왜 찾으세요? 복 주고 은혜 주고 사랑 주시려고…찾으십니다. 그래서 우리 생활 속에 정말 예배가  중요합니다.

 

여러분, 어려울 때일수록 더욱 예배하고 기도해야 합니다. 하나님 앞에 기도의 제단, 예배의 제단을 쌓으시길 바랍니다. 예배 속에 하나님은 임재하여 주시고, 만나 주실 줄 믿으시길 바랍니다.

 

그렇습니다. 하나님은 잘 생기고 똑똑하고 환경 좋은 사람을 찾는다고 한번도 말씀하신 적이 없습니다! 그러나 예배하는 자를 찾으신다 했습니다. 그래서 신구약시대를 막론하고 참마음으로 예배할 때 복을 주셨습니다.

다시 본문으로 돌아와…블레셋이 미스바로 쳐들어오자 사무엘과 백성들이 일체되어 번제 드릴 때, 하나님께서 두 가지 작전을 펼치시게 됩니다. 먼저 큰 우뢰를 발하여 블레셋 사람들을 놀라 도망치게 했습니다. 대승을 거두었을 뿐 아니라, 사무엘 이 생존하는 동안에 다시는 이스라엘을 침공하는 일이 없었다고 했습니다.  놀라운 이적이 일어났습니다.

 

결론)

사랑하는 성도 여러분! 이스라엘 백성이 블레셋으로 인해 고통을 당 했을 때 저들이 이방신을 다 버리고 죄를 회개하며, 하나님께 부르짖으며, 하나님 앞에 번제단을 쌓을 때에 그 기도를 들으시고 하나님께서 블레셋 사람을 다 멸절시키시고, 이스라엘 백성을 구원해주셨습니다.
13절입니다. "이에 블레셋 사람이 굴복하여 다시는 이스라엘 경내에 들어오지 못하였으며, 여호와의 손이 사무엘의 사는 날 동안에 블레셋 사람을 막으셨다"라고 했지요? 할렐루야!

 

2023년을 바로 앞두고 이 말씀을 마음에 새겨 실천하시길 축원합니다. 그러면 우리 하나님은 에벤에셀의 하나님이 되셔서 평생토록 여러분 과 함께 하실 줄 믿습니다. 새해 복 많이 받으십시오, 할렐루야!

   God of Ebenezer (1 Samuel 7:9~14)      welcome new year sermon 2022~23

 

9. Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. He cried out to the LORD on behalf of Israel, and the LORD answered him.

10. While Samuel was offering the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to fight against Israel, and that day the LORD thundered against the Philistines and upset them, and they were defeated before Israel.

  11. The men of Israel went out from Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and struck them down to Beth-gar.

12. Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, saying, "This far the Lord has helped us." And he called his name Ebenezer.

13. So the Philistines were subdued, and never again entered the territory of Israel. The hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14. The cities that the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel from Ekron to Gath, and Israel regained the territory from the hand of the Philistines, and there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

 

Introduction)

When we think of the fact that the time and years we face every day are not something we make ourselves or buy with money, but are ‘gifts from God’, it is truly amazing and wonderful.

Also, the famous Spanish playwright Cervantes once said, "The greatest gift God has given to us humans is 'freedom'." When this freedom is given to humans, humans will be able to enjoy all the rights and benefits God has given them. The gospel of Jesus has set us free. Therefore, to enjoy true freedom within the free time given by God is grace and happiness that cannot be exchanged for anything.

 

In today's text, the Israelites suffered from the Philistines for a long time. The Philistines often invaded the land and took away the grain when the Israelites had farmed, and plundered the livestock when the Israelites raised them. And there were too many times when family members were kidnapped and forced to live as slaves.

 

At the time of the prophet Samuel, even the 'ark of God' was taken away by the Philistines, and Israel fell into indescribable despair and frustration.

At that time, Samuel gathered all the people in the area called 'Mizpah', built an altar to God, and offered sacrifices completely. And I cried out to God earnestly and prayed. Then God heard the prayers of the Israelites. Finally, God showed great favor to them, and God personally destroyed all the Philistines and gave the Israelites victory. Samuel was so grateful for this grace that he picked up a stone and erected a monument between the areas of ‘Mizpah and Shen’ and called it ‘Ebenezer (Jehovah has helped us this far)’ and gave more thanks to God.

We also believe that we should give thanks and praise to 'the God of Ebenezer' for the God who has kept and protected us even during all kinds of hardships, hardships, and disasters so far today.

First of all, we must give thanks that our God does not change or lie. The world is often hard to believe. Even among the rich.

Body)

A) We must cast off the sin of unbelief.

At the time of Samuel, the Israelites cast off all foreign gods and sins. The Israelites looked only at God, realizing that the many foreign gods they had secretly served, such as Baal and Ashtaroth, were incompetent and evil. Then they said that God answered their prayers.

 

God doesn't just ask how righteous I am. Everyone has flaws. He simply asks us how thoroughly we have repented and repented of such sins. God did not ask only those without sin or very few to come to Him. Even sinners are told to come quickly. Therefore Isaiah 1:18= "Come, says the Lord, and let us reason together. If your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; if they are red like crimson, they will be like wool." God seeks the righteous without sin, but He delights in seeking those who repent despite their sins. Some people have so many sins that they cannot believe. So, if you continue to be in sin and are thrown into hellfire, who will lose? (In the case of not being able to go to the public bath because there are many times, in the end, it just separates from society). I hope you believe that no matter how many sins or long-standing sins, the blood of Jesus on the cross can wash away all of them. Hallelujah!

 

If we want to look at the God of Ebenezer, we must first admit and vomit our inadequacies, our laziness, and our sins. When we repent of our sins wholeheartedly, God gives us mercy and compassion. It is sin that gets in the way of our relationship with God. I hope you believe that when we repent of our sins of various shapes and look at God completely, we too will meet the God of Ebenezer.

 

b) God is able to hear prayers even in the midst of difficulties.

“Samuel said, “Gather all Israel together at Mizpah. I will pray to the Lord for you” (1Sa 7:5).

 

At that time, the Philistines besieged Israel on all sides and drove their lives into

the final predicament. In the midst of such urgency, the prophet Samuel gathered all

the Israelites at Mizpah and said, 'I will pray to the Lord for you.' Praying, soon repenting, was the best way for the Israelites to be saved from the hands of the Philistines. God has given us a way to live no matter what crisis we face. What is it? Please believe that that is what prayer is.

 

When we pray to God, we are connected by the power of God's power. God's

Please believe that power works right where you pray. It is said that our prayers move the throne of God. If you pray, please believe that God's work is with us.

Also, Jesus said (Matthew 7:7), "Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you." My brethren, what does it mean to ask, seek, and knock? It is to pray with all your might and with all your might.

 

Acts 4:31= As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook. Acts of the Apostles Chapter 16 = When Apostle Paul was praying in prison in Philippi, it was said that the prison grounds were moved, the prison doors were opened, and the chains were loosened. All bonds have been released. Just a moment ago, the jailer who had put Paul in prison to live, etc., knelt down on his knees and said, 'Teachers, how can I be saved?' He knelt down and bowed his head. Please believe that this is prayer and God's great work.

 

Today, God wants you and me to pray close to God. He wants to talk in prayer. He wants you to gain new hope through prayer. I hope you believe that he wants to share love through prayer. God gives the gift of revelation to those who pray. He also pours out spiritual gifts. God's power is infinite.

 

Therefore, Samuel also went to prayer when he was in crisis. He did not know or rely on spears, swords, or horsemen. Then he said that God worked.

 

Another thing we need to remember is that we must pray for what we want, but we believe that we should pray more for what God wants. The apostle Paul said that everything we eat, wear, drink, and live must be for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Stuart Kennedy-Ran once said, "Prayer is not an easy way to get what we want, it's the only way to get what God wants." If my prayer does not go well, I hope you pray while thinking about God's way and God's wish.

 

C) Third, we must have the habit of worshiping before God.

“While Samuel was offering the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to fight against Israel, and on that day the Lord hurled great thunder against the Philistines, disturbing them, and they were defeated before Israel” (v. 10).

 

  Guys, what did Samuel do when he sought God's help? He said he offered burnt offerings. Although the form of burnt offering has changed to worship today, the same principle and attitude of heart are the same for both burnt offering and worship. In the Old Testament times, burnt offerings were sin offerings and fellowship offerings. Today, ‘worship’ is one of the most representative acts in which we can meet God most closely and receive answers.

 

John 4:23 says, “The hour is coming, and is now, when those who truly worship the Father will worship in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who worship him in this way.” Why are you looking for To give blessings, grace, and love... you are looking for That is why worship is so important in our lives.

 

My brethren, in difficult times, we must worship and pray even more. I hope you build an altar of prayer and an altar of worship before God. I hope that God will be present in worship and believe that He will meet you.

 

That's right. God has never said that he is looking for people who are good-looking, smart, and good-natured! But he was looking for worshipers. So, regardless of the age of the Old and New Testaments, He blessed us when we worship with a true heart.

 

Back to the main text... When the Philistines invaded Mizpah and Samuel and the people united and offered burnt offerings, God carried out two strategies. First, he threw a great thunderstorm, frightening the Philistines and causing them to flee. Not only did he win a great victory, but he said that he never invaded Israel again while Samuel was alive. An amazing miracle has happened.

Beloved Saints! When the Israelites suffered because of the Philistines, they abandoned all foreign gods, repented of their sins, and cried out to God. You saved me.

Verse 13. Didn't it say, "So the Philistines were subdued and never came into the borders of Israel again, and the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel's life?" Hallelujah!

 

Right ahead of 2023, I wish you to take this word to heart and put it into practice. Then, I believe that our God will become the God of Ebenezer and will be with you for the rest of your life. Happy New Year, Hallelujah!
