선한 싸움을 싸웁시다(디모데전서 6:11-16)

 

11.오직 너 하나님의 사람아 이것들을 피하고 의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 따르며 12.믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라 영생을 취하라 이를 위하여 네가 부르심을 받았고 많은 증인 앞에서 선한 증언을 하였도다 13.만물을 살게 하신 하나님 앞과 본디오 빌라도를 향하여 선한 증언을 하신 그리스도 예수 앞에서 내가 너를 명하노니 14.우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때까지 흠도 없고 책망 받을 것도 없이 이 명령을 지키라 15.기약이 이르면 하나님이 그의 나타나심을 보이시리니 하나님은 복되시고 유일하신 주권자이시며 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주시요

 

16.오직 그에게만 죽지 아니함이 있고 가까이 가지 못할 빛에 거하시고 어떤 사람도 보지 못하였고 또 볼 수 없는 이시니 그에게 존귀와 영원한 권능을 돌릴지어다 아멘

 

 서론)

1. 오늘은 청년 주일입니다. 청년의 시기는 인생의 개화기, 즉 꽃이 화사하게 피어나는 시기라고 하겠습니다. 가장 아름다운 시기요, 가장 왕성하게 활동할 수 있는 때입니다. 그러므로 이 청년의 때는 대단히 중요하고 한편은 어려운 시기이기도 합니다.

2. S. 포로는 말하기를 "세계에서 가장 저명한 23명의 성자 중에 단 한 명을 제외하고 나머지 전부가 18세 이전에 신앙 생활에 들어갔었다"고 하였습니다. 모차르트는 6살 때부터 독일 황제 앞에서 연주를 하였고, 헨델은 10세 때부터 작곡을 시작하였습니다. 영국의 유명한 설교자인 스펄전 목사는 20세 때 영국 사회에서 대 설교가로 명성을 떨쳤고, 리빙스턴은 23세 때 아프리카 선교를 시작하여 그의 일생을 바쳤습니다. 종교개혁자인 존 칼빈은 26세 때 장로교회의 근간인 유명한 저서 {기독교 강요}를 저술하였습니다. 미국의 저명한 부흥사 빌리 그래함도 그 이름을 나타내기 시작한 것이 25세 때 부터였습니다.

 하나님께서는 청년에게 환상과 정열과 무한한 가능성을 부어 주셨기 때문에 그것을 잘 개발한 젊은이들은 놀라운 일들을 만들어 냅니다. 끝없이 솟는 샘처럼 젊은이들 속에서 상상도 하지 못하였던 새로운 아이디어들이 솟구쳐 나옵니다.

3. 그러나 주의해 생각해야 할 것은 바로 젊은이들의 이런 무한한 가능성이 그들 자신 속에서 나오는 것이 아니라 그 샘의 근원이 되시는 하나님께로부터 온다는 사실을 알아야 합니다. 잠언에 "주를 경외하는 것이 지식의 근본"이라고 한 말씀이 바로 그런 뜻입니다.

젊은이들이 생명의 근원이 되시는 하나님께 바르게 연결되어 있을 때, 비로소 무한한 가능성을 부여받게 되고, 거기로부터 새로운 생각, 넘치는 활력, 불타는 정열을 간직하면서 새로운

역사를 창조해 가게 됩니다. 따라서 젊었을 때 예수를 믿고 회심을 체험하는 일이 중요합니다.

 저는 오늘 읽어 드린 디모데전서 6장 말씀을 통하여 젊은이들이 들어야 할 몇 가지 권면을 생각해 보고자 합니다. 이 말씀은 사도 바울이 사랑하던 제자 디모데에게 보낸 편지입니다.

디모데는 젊은 제자로서 사도 바울의 선교에 적극 협력하였던 아들처럼 여긴 사람입니다.

 본론)

가)하나님의 사람아-에 대해

 먼저 바울은 디모데를 가리켜 "하나님 사람"이라고 하였습니다. 이런 호칭은 구약성경시대 에는 주로 하나님의 일꾼들 중에서도…. 그것도 ‘예언자들’에게 사용되었습니다.

그런데 바울은 디모데를 "너 하나님의 사람아"라고 불렀습니다. 사명감을 일깨우는 호칭입니 다. 그런 점에서 믿음 안에 살아가는 모든 젊은이들이야말로 "너 하나님의 사람"이라고 할 수 있습니다. 인생의 어느 시기보다 더 큰 가능성을 부여받았기 때문에 "하나님의 사람"이란 호칭이 잘 어울린다 할 수 있습니다. 따라서 믿음의 젊은이들은 언제나 자신이 "하나님의 사람"으로 부름 받았음을 깨달아 알아야 하나님이 기뻐하실 만한 사람이 되도록 늘 기도해야  할 것입니다.

 성경을 보면, 하나님의 사람들은 무엇보다도 환상, 즉 비전을 가진 사람들이었습니다. '환상이란 하나님이 내려 주신 계시요 꿈이요, 지혜로움입니다. 더 나아가서는 역사의 비밀을 아는 것이며, 역사의 주인을 아는 것입니다. 순간에 살지만 영원 저편을 보는 것이요, 영원을 바라보고 사는 능력입니다.

젊은이들이 하나님의 사람이 되려면 하나님께로부터 오는 이런 환상을 가지고 이 역사를 분별하며 역사의 미래를 내다볼 수 있어야 할 것입니다. 그러면 그는 끊임없이 하나님의 음성을 들으면서 자신을 변화시키고 성장시키며 역사의 부름을 좇아 나아가야 합니다.

 오늘날 청년들의 문제는 이런 하나님의 환상을 찾지 못하거나 잃어버리고 작은 만족에 안주하고 산다는 점입니다. 고로 청년들은 “내가 주를 위해 무엇을 할까? 내가 무엇을 하면 하나님께서 기뻐하실까?”를 생각해야 한다는 점입니다. 그렇지 아니하면 참된 성장은 멈추고 말 것입니다. (그러면 하나님의 사람, 주 안의 청년들이 지향해야 할 점들은 어떤 것일까요? 오늘 본문 말씀을 통해 살펴보도록 하겠습니다. )

나) 피해야 할 유혹들

오늘 본문에 보면 "하나님의 사람아, 이것들을 피하고 의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 따르며 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라"고 하였습니다. 여기서 보면 하나님의 사람인 디모데에게 주어진 권유는 세 가지입니다. 첫째는 유혹을 피하고, 둘째는 의, 경건, 믿음, 사랑, 인내, 온유를 따르고, 셋째는 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라고 하였습니다.

1.   첫째로 젊은이들이 진정으로 하나님의 사람이 되려면 여러 가지 유혹을 피해야 합니다. 디모데전서 6장 7절에서 10절에 보면 부의 유혹을 경계하고 있습니다.

 먼저 돈의 유혹이 있다 했습니다. 돈을 좇다가 믿음에서 떠나 헤매기도 하고, 많은 고통을 겪기도 한 사람이 많이 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라 명예와 인기, 권력 그리고 성적 유혹이 있습니 다. 사도 바울은 이런 것들을 피하라고 권면하고 있습니다. 예수님께서 가르쳐 주신 기도에 보면, "우리를 시험에 들게 하지 마옵시고"라는 기도가 있습니다. 이것은 특별히 유혹에 빠지 기 쉬운 젊은이들이 드려야 할 중요한 기도입니다.

 잠언 1장에 보면 "내 아들아 악한 자가 너를 꾈지라도 좇지 말라"고 경고하고 있습니다. 그 악한 자들이 온갖 달콤한 말로 유혹하여 범죄에 가담할 것을 이야기하며 유혹합니다. 한탕해서 돈을 나누는 즐거움에 참여하라고 합니다. 그러다 잡히면 다 죽는데도 그러자고 합니다. 친구가 다 친구가 아닙니다. 선한 일을 함께해야 참 친구입니다. 오늘날도 숱한 유혹들이 우리 주변엔 기득합니다. 마약과 문란한 성생활, 불신앙, 이단사상, 우상숭배, 이기주의, 동성연애, 과학만능주의, 물질만능주의, 진화론 등등입니다.  청년들은 그런 것을 따르지 말아야 합니다.  잠언서에는 이런 악한 자들의 유혹이 여러 가지 모양으로 끊임없이 다가오고 있음을 경계하면 서 단호하게 그 유혹을 뿌리치도록 교훈하고 있습니다.

다)좇아가야 할 것 들, 5가지

다음으로 사도 바울은 디모데에게 "의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 좇으라"고 하였습니다. 젊은이들이 진정으로 추구해야 할 것들은 바로 하늘에 속한 영적 가치들입니다. 여기에 나열된 덕목들은 영적인 덕목 6가지입니다.

1. 의는 죄가 아닌 것입니다. 하나님이 옳다! 하시는 일을 하는 것입니다. 2.그리고 경건과 3.믿음을 좇아야 합니다. ‘주일성수’하기 힘쓰고 말씀사랑하고 기도하기 힘쓰고 모이기에 힘써야 합니다. 그리고 어려운 친구들을 돕는 일에도 힘써야 합니다. 4.하나님의 크신 사랑을 알아 감사히 여기고 그 사랑을 나누기에 늘 힘써야 합니다. 5.그리고 인내할 줄 알아야 합니다. 조금만 어려우면 집어 치우고 조금만 귀찮아도 도망치고 조금만 힘들어도 포기하면 안 됩니다. 목표를 정했으면 끈질기게 달려 가야 합니다. 너무 힘들면 잠시 쉬더라도 다시 가야 합니다. 어떤 서울대학에 진학하고 졸업한 한 분이 방송에서 나와서 한 말입니다. 한국의 최고 명문대학인 서울대학을 가려면 엉덩이가 질겨야 합니다. 즉 책상에 앉아서 악착같이 공부해야 한다는 말입니다. 엉덩이가 인내하지 못하면 서울대학에 못간다는 거예요. 재밌는 표현이지만 맞는 말입니다.

믿음 생활엔 온갖 유혹과 어려움이 있습니다. 그래서 인내해야 합니다. 다니엘이 얼마나 인내 했습니까? 요셉은 또 그 얼마나 인내했습니까? 예수님도 십자가의 인내를 가당하셔서 온 인류를 구원하셨습니다. 야곱이나 이삭, 아브라함, 다윗…….모두 인내의 상징입니다. 인내해야 합니다. 하나님께서 상 주실 때까지 마라토너의 심정으로 인내하시길 바랍니다. 하나님께서는 그분이 계신 것과 사주시는 이임을 믿는 자에게 상 주신다고 했어요. 그 하나님을 바라보며 인내합시다.  할렐루야!

6. 여섯번째로 온유를 좇으라 했어요. 본문에서  "좇으라"는 영어 성경에는 "aim at"으로 번역을 하였는데, 달려가는 목표, 즉 골인지점으로 삼는다는 뜻이고 혹은 "pursue"로도 번역을 하였는데 ‘추구한다’는 뜻입니다. 모든 사람에겐 온유한 태도를 유지해야 합니다. 분노와 급한 성질로는 하나님의 뜻을 이루지 못합니다. 청년의 시기에 이런 영적 덕목들을 목표로 삼아서 지속적으로 추구해야 합니다.

그런데 불행하게도 우리 사회는 그 시기에 ‘대학입시’라는 무거운 짐을 지게 됩니다. 현대 교회 위기는 바로 여기서도 옵니다. 예민한 영성을 가진 청소년들도 상당수 교회생활을 등져야 할 위기에 놓입니다. 고로 현대의 교회는 정신을 차리고 이런 불합리한 사회 구조를 경계함과 동시에 젊은이들의 영성 개발을 위한 노력들도 포기하거나 놓아선 안 된다는 점을 잘 이해시켜 나가야 합니다. 우리 주변엔 매우 훌륭한 과학자나 정치가나 사회적 지도자들이 아주 많습니 다. 그런데 그중에 기독교인인 분들도 아주 많습니다. 이것은 무엇을 말합니까? 믿음생활과 공부가 나란히 가도 아무 문제가 없다는 것입니다. 고로 교회의 지도자들은 학업과 믿음이 잘 병행되도록 격려하고 가르쳐야만 합니다.

 라)끝으로, 사도 바울은 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라고 하였습니다.

앞서 말씀드린 바 대로, 우리가 살고 있는 오늘날의 세계는 젊은이들을 유혹하는 강력한 악의 요소들로 가득 차 있습니다. 이런 유혹들을 피하여 갈 뿐 아니라 적극적으로는 그 악의 세력과 맞서 싸우지 않으면 안 된다는 사실을 교훈하고 있습니다. 믿음의 선한 싸움이란 영적 전쟁을 뜻합니다. 마귀 사단의 세력과의 전쟁입니다. 모든 유혹의 세력은 온갖 방법을 동원하 여서 우리를 집요하게 공격하여 오므로 언제까지 피할 수만은 없습니다. 결국 싸워내야 합니다.

 그러므로 우리가 이들을 효과적으로 대항하기 위해서 우리 자신이 영적으로 잘 무장하지 않으면 안 됩니다. 총 뿌리를 겨눈 전쟁과 다를 바 없기에 우리가 약간의 허점만 보이면 악은 그 허점을 파고 쳐들어옵니다. 우리가 믿음생활을 게을리하고 말씀을 등한시하면 마귀는 그 틈을 비집고 들어와 우리를 기어코 정복해 내고야 맙니다. 치명상을 입힙니다. 고로 정신을 차리고 근신해야 합니다.

 요즈음 세계는 컴퓨터 바이러스 때문에 골머리를 앓고 있습니다. 교묘하게 내 컴퓨터에 들어와서 파일을 지우고 엉망으로 만들어 놓기 일수입니다. 그래서 바이러스 백신 프로그램을 가지고 이를 퇴치하지 않으면 컴퓨터를 못쓰게 됩니다. 이 바이러스가 바로 악의 형상을 닮았 습니다. 따라서 이런 악의 바이러스를 퇴치하기 위하여 우리 스스로 강력한 신앙으로 무장하고 싸워야 합니다. 고로 바울 사도는  ‘전신갑주’를 입으라고 했습니다.

 ‘하나님의 전신갑주’는 다음과 같습니다. 에베소서 6: 11~18절입니다.

11.마귀의 간계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신 갑주를 입으라 12.우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라 13.그러므로 하나님의 전신 갑주를 취하라 이는 악한 날에 너희가 능히 대적하고 모든 일을 행한 후에 서기 위함이라 14.그런즉 서서 진리로 너희 허리 띠를 띠고 의의 호심경(흉패)을 붙이고 15.평안의 복음이 준비한 것으로 신을 신고

 

16.모든 것 위에 믿음의 방패를 가지고 이로써 능히 악한 자의 모든 불화살을 소멸하고 17.구원의 투구와 성령의 검 곧 하나님의 말씀을 가지라 18.모든 기도와 간구를 하되 항상 성령 안에서 기도하고 이를 위하여 깨어 구하기를 항상 힘쓰며 여러 성도를 위하여 구하라-고 했습니다.

좀 기억하기엔 복잡할 수 있습니다. 이걸 한마디로 하면 뭘까요? “교회생활 생활 잘하라”입 니다. 쉽죠?

결론)

이제 우리는 정신을 차리고 믿음의 선한 싸움을 잘해야 합니다. 믿음의 선한 싸움을 잘 싸우기 위해서 영적인 전신갑주로 철저히 무장을 하여야 하겠습니다. 믿음의 친구들과 열심히 교호 생활 잘 하길 힘써야 합니다. 하나님의 말씀으로 무장을 하여 침투해 오는 악의 세력들과 맞서 담대하게 싸우면서 경건함의 영토를 확보해 가야 합니다. 이상으로 오늘 청년주일을 맞이하여 몇 몇 말씀을 드렸습니다. 우리 모두 합력하여 선을 이루어 우리 교회의 청년들이 훌륭한 주 하나님과 예수 그리스도의 병사들이 다 되도록 기도하고 격려하십시다. 할렐루야! 아멘!

                Let's fight the good fight (1 Timothy 6:11-16)

 

11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,

14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 which he will display at the proper time--he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

 

 

  Introduction)

1. Today is Youth Sunday. The period of youth is the flowering period of life, that is, the period when flowers bloom splendidly. It is the most beautiful time, and it is the time when you can be most active. Therefore, the time of this youth is very important and at the same time difficult.

2. S. Porro said, "Of the twenty-three most prominent saints in the world, all but one entered the religious life before the age of eighteen." Mozart performed in front of the German Emperor from the age of 6, and Handel began composing at the age of 10. Rev. Spurgeon, a famous preacher in England, gained fame as a great preacher in British society at the age of 20, and Livingston started missionary work in Africa at the age of 23 and devoted his life to it. Reformer John Calvin wrote a famous book, Compulsions of the Christian Religion, at the age of 26, the foundation of the Presbyterian Church. It was at the age of 25 that Billy Graham, a prominent American revivalist, also began to make a name for himself.

  God has endowed youth with fantasy, passion, and limitless possibilities, and those who develop them create amazing things. Like an endless spring, new ideas that could not even be imagined spring up among young people.

3. However, what we must be careful about is that young people's infinite potential does not come from within themselves, but from God, who is the source of the fountain. This is what the Proverbs says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge."

When young people are properly connected to God, who is the source of life, they are endowed with infinite possibilities, and from there new thoughts, overflowing vitality and burning passion,

You will create history. Therefore, it is important to believe in Jesus and experience conversion when you are young.

  Through the 6th chapter of 1 Timothy I read today, I would like to think of some advice that young people should listen to. This is a letter sent by the apostle Paul to his beloved disciple Timothy.

As a young disciple, Timothy was regarded as a son who actively cooperated with the apostle Paul's mission.

  Main subject)

A) About O man of God

  First, Paul referred to Timothy as “a man of God.” In the Old Testament era, this kind of title was mainly used among God's workers... . It was also used for ‘prophets’.

But Paul called Timothy, "You man of God." It is a title that awakens a sense of mission. In that respect, all young people who live in faith can be said to be "you people of God." It can be said that the title "man of God" suits him well because he has been given greater possibilities than at any other time in his life. Therefore, young people of faith should always realize that they have been called to be "people of God" and should always pray so that they can become people who are pleasing to God.

  If you look at the Bible, God's people were, above all, people with visions, that is, people with visions. 'A vision is a revelation, a dream, or wisdom given by God. Furthermore, it is to know the secret of history and to know the owner of history. Living in the moment, but looking beyond eternity, it is the ability to live while looking at eternity.

If young people want to become people of God, they must be able to discern this history and foresee the future of history with this vision from God. Then, he must constantly listen to God's voice, change and grow himself, and follow the call of history.

  The problem of today's young people is that they cannot find or lose this vision of God and settle for small satisfaction. Therefore, the young people say, “What shall I do for the Lord? What do I do that will please God?” Otherwise, true growth will cease. (Then, what are the things that the people of God, the youth in the Lord, should aim for? Let's look at today's text.)

b) Temptations to avoid

In today's text, it says, "Flee from these, O man of God, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness; fight the good fight of faith." Here, there are three invitations given to Timothy, a man of God. The first is to avoid temptation, the second is to follow righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and gentleness, and the third is to fight the good fight of faith.

1. First, young people must avoid various temptations to truly become God's people. In 1 Timothy 6:7-10, we are warned against the temptation of riches.

  First, there is the temptation of money. There are many people who wandered away from the faith while chasing after money, and suffered a lot. But also fame, popularity, power and sexual temptation. The apostle Paul urges us to avoid these things. In the prayer taught by Jesus, there is a prayer, "Lead us not into temptation." This is an important prayer, especially for young people who are prone to temptation.

  In Proverbs 1, it warns, "My son, if the evil one seduces you, do not follow him." The wicked tempt you with all sorts of sweet words, telling you to engage in crime. We invite you to participate in the fun of sharing money. Then, if they are caught, they will die even if they are caught. Not all friends are friends. A true friend must do good things together. Even today, many temptations surround us. These are drugs, promiscuous sex life, infidelity, heresy, idolatry, selfishness, homosexuality, scientism, materialism, and the theory of evolution. Young people shouldn't follow that. The book of Proverbs instructs us to resolutely resist the temptations while being vigilant that the temptations of the wicked are constantly coming in various forms.

C) Things to pursue, 5 things

Next, Apostle Paul told Timothy, "Follow righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness." What young people should really pursue are heavenly spiritual values. The virtues listed here are six spiritual virtues.

1. Righteousness is not sin. God is right! is to do what you do. 2. And we must pursue godliness and 3. faith. We must work hard to ‘keep the Lord’s Day, love the Word, pray, and gather together. And you should do your best to help those in need. 4. We must know and be grateful for God's great love, and always strive to share that love. 5. And you must know how to be patient. If it's a little difficult, put it away, if it's a little annoying, run away, and if it's a little difficult, don't give up. Once you have set your goal, you must persevere. If it's too hard, even if you take a break, you have to go again. This is what a graduate from Seoul National University said on a TV show. You have to have tough ass to go to Seoul National University, the most prestigious university in Korea. In other words, you have to sit at your desk and study hard. If your hips can't persevere, you won't be able to go to Seoul National University. It's a funny phrase, but it's true.

There are all kinds of temptations and difficulties in the life of faith. So you have to be patient. How patient was Daniel? How patient was Joseph again? Jesus also endured the endurance of the cross and saved all mankind. Jacob, Isaac, Abraham, David... … .All are symbols of perseverance. You have to be patient. I hope you will persevere with the heart of a marathoner until God rewards you. God said that He will reward those who believe that He exists and that He is the one who buys them. Let's look at that God and be patient. Hallelujah!

6. The sixth time, I told you to follow meekness. In the main text, "follow" is translated as "aim at" in the English Bible, which means to make it a goal to run, that is, as a goal point, or it is also translated as "pursue", which means 'to pursue'. We must maintain a gentle attitude towards all people. Anger and quick temper do not accomplish the will of God. In youth, these spiritual virtues should be aimed at and constantly pursued.

Unfortunately, at that time, our society has to bear the heavy burden of ‘college entrance exam’. The modern church crisis also comes from here. Even young people with sensitive spirituality are at risk of having to turn their backs on church life. Therefore, the modern church must wake up and be vigilant against this unreasonable social structure, while at the same time helping young people to understand that they must not give up or let go of their efforts to develop their spirituality. There are many very good scientists, politicians, and social leaders around us. However, many of them are Christians. What does this say? There is no problem even if life of faith and study go hand in hand. Therefore, the leaders of the church must encourage and teach that academics and faith go well.

D) Lastly, the apostle Paul told us to fight the good fight of faith.

As I said earlier, the world in which we live today is full of powerful evil elements that entice young people. It teaches us that we must not only avoid these temptations, but actively fight against the forces of evil. The good fight of faith means spiritual warfare. It is a war against the forces of the devil and Satan. All the forces of temptation attack us relentlessly using all kinds of methods, so we cannot avoid it forever. In the end you have to fight.

  Therefore, in order for us to effectively counter them, we must equip ourselves spiritually well. It's no different from a war aimed at the root of a gun, so if we show a little loophole, evil digs that loophole and invades. If we neglect our life of faith and neglect the Word, the devil will sneak in and conquer us without fail. Inflicts mortal wounds. Therefore, you must be sober and sober.

  These days, the world is plagued by computer viruses. The number of days it cleverly got into my computer, deleted files and made a mess. So if you don't fight it with an antivirus program, your computer will be unusable. This virus resembles the very image of evil. Therefore, in order to eradicate this evil virus, we must arm ourselves with strong faith and fight. Therefore, the apostle Paul said to put on the 'full armor'.

  The ‘whole armor of God’ is: Ephesians 6: 11-18.

11. Put on the full armor of God in order to be able to stand against the devil's wiles

12. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
