쓴 물도 달게 하시는 하나님  (출애굽기 15:22~26) 22. 모세가 홍해에서 이스라엘을 인도하매 그들이 나와서 수르 광야로 들어가서 거기서 사흘길을 걸었으나 물을 얻지 못하고 23.마라에 이르렀더니 그 곳 물이 써서 마시지 못하겠으므로 그 이름을 마라라 하였더라 24.백성이 모세에게 원망하여 이르되 우리가 무엇을 마실까 하매 25.모세가 여호와께 부르짖었더니 여호와께서 그에게 한 나무를 가리키시니 그가 물에 던지니 물이 달게 되었더라 거기서 여호와께서 그들을 위하여 법도와 율례를 정하시고 그들을 시험하실새

 

26.이르시되 너희가 너희 하나님 나 여호와의 말을 들어 순종하고 내가 보기에 의를 행하며 내 계명에 귀를 기울이며 내 모든 규례를 지키면 내가 애굽 사람에게 내린 모든 질병 중 하나도 너희에게 내리지 아니하리니 나는 너희를 치료하는 여호와임이라

서론)

이스라엘 백성들이 약 430년동안 애굽에서 종살이를 했습니다. 요셉이 총리로 있을 때가 지나자 요셉을 모르는 왕들이 이스라엘 백성들을 경계하여 그들을 강제 노동을 감당하는 노예의 백성으로 만들어 버렸습니다. 이스라엘 백성들이 너무 힘든 상황이 오자“우리를 이 고통에서 해방시켜 주옵소서”라고 모두 탄식하며 기도하였습니다. 그러자 하나님께서 그 간구소리를 들으시고 모세를 지도자로 불러 세우시고 애굽에 해방자로서 보내십니다.

 

그리고 하나님께서는 10가지 재앙을 통해 바로를 굴복시키시고 마침내 200만 정도의 이스라엘 백성 이 애굽을 떠나는 게 됩니다. 그러나 홍해에 이르렀을 때, 변심한 바로는 다시 그들을 잡아 노예로 잡아 부리지 않으면 애굽에 큰 노동 문제와 경제적 타격이 생길 것을 우려했는지, 아니면 장자의 죽음에 대한 보복을 생각했는지… 군대를 이끌고 추격해왔습니다. 그러나 하나님은 그들을 다시금 홍해에 몽땅 익사시켜 버리는 기적을 일으키십니다.  얼마나 놀라운 기적입니까! 출애굽기 15:1 부터 보면, 이에 감격한 이스라엘 백성들과 미리암의 찬송이 나옵니다. 용기 백배, 감사 천배였습니다. 그런데 그 감격 과 찬양이 얼마 가지 못합니다. 강한 뙤약볕과 바람 한 점 없는 광야길이 한 동안 계속되며 마침내 그들은 수르 광야를 3일 길을 가니까, 가져온 물도 다 떨어지고 배고프고 덥고 다리 아프고…등등 기진맥지하게 됩니다. 그런데 천만 다행으로 한 지역에서 물을 발견하게 됩니다.

얼마나 좋았겠습니까? 그래서 사람들이 달려가서 물을 손으로 움켜 떠먹어 보았는데…. 물이 너무 써서 먹을 수가 없었다는 겁니다. 거기엔 소금기가 너무 많았어요. 홍해의 바닷물과 토양의 석회분이 아마 그런 쓴 맛을 냈을거라고 주장하는 학자들도 있습니다.

어쨌든 그 물조차 먹을 수 없게 되니 이스라엘 백성들의 마음이 불평 불만과 분노로 가득차게 됩니다.  그래서 모세를 원망하기 시작합니다. 삼일만에 하나님의 은혜가 사라져 버립니다. 다급해진 상황에서 지도자 모세가 하나님 앞에 엎드려 기도할 수 밖엔 없었어요. 모세가 너무나 마음이 참담하여 부르짖어서 하나님께 간구합니다.
“하나님 이 백성들 좀 살려주옵소서. 그냥 두었다간 큰 사고가 날 것만 같습니다. 도와주옵소 서!”라며 기도합니다. 그러자 하나님께서 모세에게 응답해 주십니다. “저기 나뭇가지 하나가 보이느냐? 저기 보이는 나뭇가지를 가져다가 물 속에 던져넣어라.”고 하십니다. 모세는 얼른 하나님의 말씀을 따라서 하나님이 지시하신 나뭇가지를 물 속에 던졌습니다. 그리고 잠시 후, 물맛을 보니까 물이 생수가 되었습니다. 달고 시원한 생수로 변한 물을 온 백성이 풍족하게 마시고 담아갈 수 있게 되었습니다. 원망과 불평은 곧 다 사라져버리고 공동체가 은혜를 덧입게 되고 문제가 해결되었습니다. (오늘 저는 이 말씀을 통해서, 우리 모두의 쓰디 쓴 인생도 여전히 하나님이 함께하시고 도우시면 얼마든지 달게 되어질 수 있다는 의미로 말씀을 준비해 보았습니다. )

 

본론)

가)쓰디 쓴 인생

마라의 쓴 물은 오늘날 광야같은 인생길을 걸어가면서 만나게 되는 우리의 문제와 같습니다. 모세의 때뿐 아니라, 죄 중에 방황하는 모든 인생의 문제입니다. 건강의 문제, 경제적 문제, 인 간관계의 오해와 분쟁, 학업의 문제, 환경이 주는 문제, 죽음의 문제 등등 쉬임없이 불어오는 바람처럼, 우리의 문제는 쉴 날이 별로 없습니다. 산 넘으면 또 산이요 강을 건너면 또 강입니 다. 근심과 고민이 계속 찾아오게 됩니다. 절망스럽습니다. 도망치고 싶습니다. 외롭고 무섭기 도 합니다. 모든 웃음을 빼앗기게 됩니다. 돈도 소용없습니다. 이런 상황은 소수의 사람들만이 아니라 대부분의 성도들도 겪는 상황입니다. 누구도 예외가 없어 보입니다. 삶의 의욕도 꺾여 버립니다. 사방이 꽉 막혀버린 것만 같아요. 너무 사는게 힘들다는 탄식이 나옵니다.

그러면 해결책은 아예 없는 것일까요? 그렇진 않습니다.  

요즘 보니까, 과학이 발달하면서 소금물도 정화하여 식수로 사용하는 시대가 되었습니다. 한국의 큰 제철 회사인 포항제철이라는 회사는 바닷물을 정수해서 공업용수로 쓰고 있다고 합니다. 아주 쓸모없는 늪지대도 새로운 과학적 좋은 공법으로 기초를 놓고, 그 위에 빌딩을 세우고 아파트 단지도 건설하고 있습니다.

또 한국에 김포공항이라는 큰 공항이 있는데 그 근처에 난지도라는 한강 사이에 섬이 있었어요. 서울에서 생긴 쓰레기를 거기다 대부분 갖다 버려서 섬이 아니라 산이 되었습니다. 그 난지도는 쓰레기가 가득했던 쓸모없고 악취가 끊임없이 풍겨나는 혐오스러운 땅이었습니다. 그런데 지금은 깨끗하게 정리되고 개발이 되어 그 위에는 푸르른 잔디가 깔린 아름다운 골프장이 건설되고 시민들이 매우 즐겨 찾는 공원이 되었습니다.

대부분의 문제엔 해결책이 있긴 있다는 거예요. 과학과 기술과 노력과 꿈은 심각한 문제들을 아름답게 변화시킬 수가 있습니다. 그런데 우리 인생의 쓰디쓴 것은 그 무엇으로도 쉽게 달게 만들 수가 없는 것이 문제입니다.

 

그런데 아무리 과학과 기술이 발달해도 우리 안에 있는 이 쓴 물, 우리 가정에 쓰며든 이 쓰디쓴 인생의 문제는 사람의 힘만으로는 달게 할 수 없다는 이야기입니다. 이 세상의 수많은 사람들이 자신의 쓰라린 인생을 달게 해보려고 밤새껏 필름이 끊길 정도로 술을 마셔보기도 하고, 노래방에 가서 목이 쉬도록 노래를 불러보기도 하고 온갖 약물과 쾌락을 좇아가 보지만 문제는 더욱 커지기만 합니다. 더 쓰디쓰게 되는 거예요. 다행히 오늘 말씀에는 쓰디쓴 우리 인생을 달게 할 수 있는 하나님이 소개되어 있습니다. 참 감사한 일입니다.

나)쓰디 쓴 인생을 달게 하려면
1. 첫째, 쓴 물을 만났을 때 원망은 결코 해결책이 아님을 알자
우린 문제가 생기면 먼저 원망부터 하는 습관이 있습니다. 희생양을 먼저 찾습니다.  오늘 말씀에 보니까 마라의 쓴 물을 만난 이스라엘 백성들은 불신의 근성 때문에 어려움에 부딪치자 마자, 삼일 전에 그렇게 칭찬하고 존경했던 모세를 향하여 원망을 마구 쏟아 놓습니다. 그런데 원망은 해결책이 아닙니다. 원망은 불신의 결과입니다.  우리는 조금만 어려운 일을 당해도 남에게 책임을 돌리고 희생양을 찾기 바쁩니다.

선악과를 먹은 아담도 자기 아내를 원망합니다. 범죄한 후 아담은 하나님께 그 죄의 책임이  “하나님이 주신 저 여자가 먹으라 했다”라고 원망합니다. 하나님이 왜 저런 여자를 주신거 예요? 라고 한것입니다. 아담은 결코“제가 잘못했습니다”라고 하지 않았습니다. 또 하와는 간교한 뱀 때문이라며 변명하고 원망했습니다. 원망하는 것은 정직한 행동이 아니었습니다. 원망하는 사람에게 하나님이 “아, 그래? 어쩔 수 없었겠구나” 하고 편들어 주지 않으십니다. 벌을 주십니다.

여러분, 우리가 잘 아는 욥을 생각해 보시기 바랍니다. 하나님이 사탄에게 욥을 대단히 칭찬했습니다. 사탄은 욥의 믿음을 ㅂ정합니다. 게임이 시작됩니다. 그러면서 욥에게 어느날 갑자기 쓰디쓴 마라의 고통이 찾아왔습니다. 욥은 하루 아침에 모든 재산이 사라졌 습니다. 하루 아침에 칠남 삼녀의 자녀가 죽음을 당했습니다. 자신의 몸에는 악창이 생겨났습 니다. 아내도 그를 저주하며 떠났습니다. 이런 지독하게 쓰디 쓴 인생이 어디 흔합니까?
그런데 욥기 1:21에서 욥은 이렇게 고백합니다. “가로되 내가 모태에서 적신(naked)이 나왔사온즉 또한 적신이 그리로 돌아가올지라 주신 자도 여호와시요 취하신 자도 여호와시오니 여호와의 이름이 찬송을 받으실지니이다 ”라고 했습니다. 이 말이 사실이쟎아요? 안 그렇습니까? 얼마나 솔직해요? 그러자 하나님은 욥에 대해서 이렇게 칭찬하십니다. “이 모든 일에 욥이 범죄하지 아니하고 하나님을 향하여 어리석게 원망하지 아니하니라”고 합니다. 그러고보니 정말 우린 하나님께 원망할 것이 하나도 없어 보이네요. 원망하지 않으면 치료의 시작이 보이는 것입니다. 고로 하나님은 욥의 그 쓰디쓴 인생을 단 인생으로 얼마 후 갑절로 회복시켜주신 것을 믿으시기를 바랍니다.

 

워싱턴 포스트지에서 이런 기사가 실렸었다고 합니다. “이 지구촌을 글로벌시대로 만든 최초의 장본인은 징기스칸이다.라면서, 그가 원망하는 삶보다는 극복하는 삶을 살았음을 강조해 이렇게 증언합니다. 징기스칸은 말하기를“집안이 나쁘다고 탓하지 말라. 나는 아홉 살 때 아버지를 잃고 마을에서 쫓겨났다. 가난하다고 탓하지 말라. 나는 들쥐를 잡아먹으며 연명했고, 목숨을 건 전쟁이 나의 직업이었고 일이었다. 작은 나라에서 태어났다고 말하지 말라. 나는 그림자 말고는 친구도 없고 병사로만 10만, 백성은 어린애와 노인까지 합쳐 200만도 되지 않는 곳에서 태어났다. 배운 것이 없다고 힘이 없다고 탓하지 말라. 나는 내 이름도 쓸줄 몰랐으나 남의 말에 귀 기울이며 현명해지는 법을 배웠다. 너무 막막하다고 그래서 포기해야 겠다고 말하지 말라. 나는 목에 칼(pillory, 계구)을 쓰고도 탈출했고, 뺨에 화살을 맞아 죽었다가 살아나기도 했다.”라고 했습니다. 전에 제가 한번 인용한 예화인데요. 어쨌든 이 기사는 곧 징기스칸이 환경을 탓하지 않고, 남을 탓하지 않는 그 정신 때문에 세계를 글로벌 시대로 이끌어내는 최초의 주인공이 되었다-라고 지적하고 있습니다.

 

2. 둘째, 하나님께 부르짖어 기도해야 합니다. 
모세처럼 하나님께 부르짖어 기도하시면 됩니다. 모든 백성이 마라의 쓴 물 앞에서 거침없이 하나님을 원망했습니다. 원망도 습관입니다. 안 좋은 습관이예요. 어쨌든 모세는 그런 상황속 에서 하나님께 엎드려 부르짖었다 했습니다. “주여 이 백성을 구원해 주옵소서. 불쌍히 여겨 주옵소서”라고 말이죠. 믿음의 사람 모세는 하나님께서 살아계심을 믿었기에 원망보다는 기도로 하나님께 나아갔습니다. 이게 위대함입니다. 믿음이 부족한 사람은 부르짖기 보다는 원망하므로 시간을 낭비하고 더 깊은 문제의 수렁으로 빠져들어갑니다. 마침내 하나님께서는 믿음으 로 부르짖는 모세의 기도를 들으시고 마라의 쓴 물을 단물로 바꿔주십니다. 우리는 기도하고 부르짖는 습관을 가져야 합니다.

 

사무엘의 어머니 한나를 보세요. 실로에  제사드리러 갔을 때, 자식이 없어 후처에게 핍박받아 슬프고 괴로울 때 눈물로 기도했고 그 기도 응답으로 위대한 선지자 사무엘을 얻었다 했습니다.
우리가 부르짖어 기도하면 하나님은 반드시 들으시고 응답하십니다.

다윗은 시편 18:6에도 “내가 환난에서 여호와께 아뢰며 나의 하나님께 부르짖었더니 저가 그 전에서 내 소리를 들으심이여 그 앞에서 나의 부르짖음이 그 귀에 들렸도다”라고 했습니 다.  시편 120:1에도 “내가 환난 중에 여호와께 부르짖었더니 내게 응답하셨도다”
라고 했어요.  여러분, 여러분 모두 부르짖어 기도하는 사람들이 되시기를 축원합니다. 우리는 할 수 없으나 하나님은 할 수 있음을 믿으시길 바랍니다.

 

3.끝으로 예수님께 인생의 문제를 모두 맡길 수 있어야 합니다.
우리 인생의 쓴 물을 단 물로 만들 수 있는 길은 하나님의 명령을 행하고 순종하는 것입니다. 하나님이 하라시는 대로 나뭇가지를 물속에 던지는 것입니다. 오늘날 이 나뭇가지를 던져 넣는다는 것은 나무에 달려 죽으신 예수라 할 수 있습니다. 예수는 우리의 해결책입니다.
예수는 우리 인생의 쓴 물을 달게할 수 있는 유일한 분이십니다. 먼저 우리 인생을 열어보면 모든 쓴 문제 속에는 죄악의 쓴 뿌리가 있습니다. 모든 것이 죄로 말미암아 우리 인생을 쓰게 만듭니다. 죄의 저주가 풀려야 합니다. 그래서 죄문제가 해결되지 않으면 우리는 결단코 쓴 인생을 달게 만들 수가 없습니다. 잠시 성공도 해보고 돈도 벌어보지만 얼마 있지 않아 사라집니다. 진정한 해결은없는 겁니다.  나뭇가지가 그곳에 던져졌을 때 비로소 물이 달아졌듯이 예수를 모셔야만 여러분의 인생은 달아집니다.

이사야 53: 5=“그가 찔림은 우리의 허물을 인함이요 그가 상함은 우리의 죄악을 인하이라 그가 징계를 받음으로 우리가 평화를 누리고 그가 채찍에 맞음으로 우리가 나음을 입었도 다”라고 했습니다. 우리의 쓴 인생을 달게 해주시기 위해서 예수님은 하늘 보좌를 버리시고 이 땅에 오셨습니다. 예수님이 내 마음속에 들어오면 죄사함 받습니다. 쓴 물이 단 물로 변합니 다. 예수님의 사랑이 내 속에 들어오니까 미움이 사라집니다. 나의 쓴 물이 달게 됩니다.
예수님이 오시기까지는 용서가 안되었는데 예수 때문에 용서가 됩니다. 예수님이 들어오시면  욕심이 물러가고 겸손해지고 자유로워지고 소망이 생깁니다. 행복해집니다. 내 배에 생수의 강이 흐릅니다. 더는 목마르 않습니다.

 

결론)

사랑하는 성도 여러분! 여러분은 이 예수를 모시고 계십니까? 혹 모셨다 해도 그의 말을 듣고 계십니까? 모시긴 해도 내 말만 하고 있진 않습니까? 예수의 음성을 듣지 않으시면 서로 원망하 고 물고 뜯고 싸워 평화를 누릴 수 없을 것입니다.  이제 우리의 쓴 인생을 어떻게 할까요? 첫째, 원망하려고만 하지 마십시오. 둘째 하나님께 부르짖어 기도하길 힘쓰십시오. 셋째, 하나님께 모든 것을 맡기고 예수님의 명령을 순종하십시오. 하나님 사랑, 예수님 사랑, 이웃 사랑에 힘쓰시길 바랍니다. 그리할 때 하나님께서 우리 마음속에 쓰디 쓴 물들을 단 물로 변화시켜 주실 줄로 믿습니다.

         God who sweetens bitter water (Exodus 15:22-26)

 

22 Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water.

23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.

24 And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"

25 And he cried to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them,

26 saying, "If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer."

 

Introduction)

The people of Israel spent about 430 years in Egypt. When Joseph was prime minister, kings who did not know Joseph were wary of the people of Israel and turned them into slaves who were forced to work. When the people of Israel came to a difficult situation, they all lamented and prayed, "Please release us from this pain." Then God heard the cry and called Moses as a leader and sent him to Egypt as a liberator. God brought Pharaoh to his knees through 10 disasters, and eventually about two million Israelites left Egypt. But when he reached the Red Sea, he was afraid that if he didn't capture them again and enslave them, he would have great labor problems and economic damage to Egypt... I've been chasing with an army. But God creates a miracle that drowns them all again in the Red Sea.  What an amazing miracle! From Exodus 15:1, there are hymns of the people of Israel and Miriam who are moved by this. It was 100 times courage and 1000 times gratitude. However, the emotion and praise are not long gone. The scorching sun and the windless wilderness continued for a while, and finally they went down the Sur Desert for three days, running out of water, hungry, hot, and sore legs...And so on and so forth, you get exhausted. But fortunately, they find water in the area.

 

How nice would it have been? So people ran and grabbed water with their hands and scooped it up.... The water was too bitter to drink. There was too much salt in it. Some scholars argue that the red sea water and the lime in the soil probably gave it that bitter taste.

Anyway, the hearts of the Israelites are filled with complaints and anger because they cannot even drink that water.  And so he starts to resent Moses. In three days, God's grace disappears. In an urgent situation, Moses, the leader, had no choice but to pray in front of God. Moses is so miserable that he cries out and begs God.

"God save these people. If I leave it alone, I think there will be a big accident. Help me!" I pray. Then God responds to Moses. "Do you see a branch over there? Take the branch you see over there and throw it into the water." Moses quickly followed God's word and threw the branch God had instructed into the water. And after a while, when I tasted the water, the water turned into bottled water. The whole people were able to drink and hold the water that turned into sweet and cool bottled water. All the resentments and complaints have disappeared, the community has added grace, and the problem has been resolved. (Today, I have prepared a word that means that the bitter life of all of us can still be sweet with God' )

A)a bitter life

Mara's bitter water is like our problem as we walk through the wilderness of life today. It is a matter of all life wandering not only in Moses' time but also in sin. Like the endless winds of health problems, economic problems, human misunderstandings and disputes, academic problems, environmental problems, death problems, and so on, our problems don't have many days to rest. If you cross a mountain, it's a mountain. If you cross the river, it's a river again. Worries and worries continue to come. It's hopeless. I want to run away. It's lonely and scary, too. It takes away all the laughter. Money doesn't work either. This is a situation that most saints go through, not just a few people. No one seems to have an exception. It also discourages the motivation to live. I feel like I'm stuck everywhere. I sigh that it's too hard to live.

So there's no solution at all? That's not true. 

Nowadays, as science develops, salt water is purified and used as drinking water. Pohang Iron & Steel, a big steel company in Korea, purifies seawater and uses it as industrial water. The very useless swamps are also being based on new scientific and good techniques, building buildings on top of them, and building apartment complexes.

Also, there is a big airport called Gimpo Airport in Korea, and there was an island between Nanjido and Han River. Most of the garbage generated in Seoul was thrown there, so it became a mountain, not an island. The Nanjido was a useless, stinking, repulsive land full of garbage. However, now it has been cleaned and developed, and a beautiful golf course with green grass has been built on it, and it has become a popular park for citizens.

Most problems have solutions. Science and technology and hard work and dreams can beautifully change serious problems. But the problem is that nothing in our lives can make it sweet easily. However, no matter how advanced science and technology are, this bitter water in us, this bitter life problem, used in our homes, cannot be sweetened by human power alone. Countless people in the world drink alcohol all night long to sweeten their bitter lives, go to karaoke and sing until their voices are hoarse, follow all kinds of drugs and pleasures, but the problem only gets bigger. It gets more bitter. Fortunately, today's words introduce God who can sweeten our bitter lives.

 

B)To make a bitter life sweet,

1. First, let's know that resentment is never the solution when you meet bitter water.

We have a habit of resenting first when we have a problem. Find the scapegoat first.  According to today's statement, the people of Israel, who met Mara's bitter water, poured out their resentment toward Moses, who they praised and respected three days ago, when they faced difficulties due to the spirit of distrust. But resentment is not the solution. Resentment is the result of distrust.  We are busy finding scapegoats, blaming others for a little bit of difficulty.

Adam, who ate the fruit of good and evil, also resents his wife. After committing the crime, Adam resents God that the responsibility for the sin was "that woman God gave me to eat." Why did God give such a woman? Adam never said, "I was wrong." Eve excused and complained that it was because of a sly snake. Blaming was not an honest act. God said to the person who resented it, "Oh, really? He doesn't take my side because he couldn't help it. They punish you.

 

Everyone, think about Job we know well. God praised Job very much. One day Job suddenly suffered a bitter mala pain. Job lost all his property overnight. One day, the children of seven sons and three daughters were killed. He had a musical instrument in his body. His wife also cursed him and left. What kind of bitter life is this common?

But in Job 1:21, Job confesses like this. He said, "I will give praise to the name of the Lord because I have been born with the red god, that is, the red god, and the red god will return there." Isn't this true? Don't you think so? How honest are you? Then God praises Job like this. "Job did not commit a crime in all this, and he did not resent God foolishly." Come to think of it, we really don't seem to have anything to blame God. If you don't resent it, you see the beginning of treatment. Therefore, God made that Job's bitter life has been restored to a short life.

 

The Washington Post reported this story. Genghis Khan is the first person to make this global village a global era.He testified like this, emphasizing that he lived a life of overcoming rather than a life of resentment. Genghis Khan said, "Don't blame the house for being bad. I lost my father when I was nine and was kicked out of town. Don't blame yourself for being poor. I survived by eating field mice, and the war with my life was my job and my job. Don't say you were born in a small country. He was born in a place where he had no friends but shadows, 100,000 soldiers alone, and less than 2 million people, including children and the elderly. Don't blame yourself for lack of power because you haven't learned anything. I didn't even know how to write my name, but I learned to be wise by listening to others.
