15.  그런즉 너희가 어떻게 행할지를 자세히 주의하여 지혜 없는 자 같이 하지 말고 오직 지혜 있는 자 같이 하여

서론)

우리의 인생은 문제의 연속입니다. 이 세상에는 문제없는 사람은 없습니다. 문제없는 사회나 국가도 없습니다. 모든 인생들은 문제에 얽혀 살고 있습니다. 인간의 고통은 환경의 문제만도 아닙니다. 잘살면 문제가 없고 행복할 것 같지만 잘 살아도 문제는 많습니다. 잘 살아도 바르게 살지 못하고 지혜롭게 살지 못하면 인생은 더욱 불행해집니다. 그러므로 지혜가 있어야 합니다.

 

여기서 지혜는 어디서 얻습니까? 아시다시피 하나님께 있다고 했습니다.

잠언 9:6절은 “여호와를 경외하는 것이 지혜의 근본이요 거룩하신 자를 아는 것이 명철이니라”고 했습니다. 골 2: 3도 “그 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보화가 감추어져 있느니라”고 했습니다. “그 안에”라는 말은 곧 “하나님 안에” 라는 말입니다.

 

그럼 누가 지혜로운 사람인가요? 삼위일체의 하나님을 잘 믿는 사람입니다. 결국 믿음으로 하나님의 놀라운 계획속에 자신의 인생을 볼 줄 아는 지혜를 얻습니다.

 

지혜는 궁극적으로 모든 인생의 참된 목적과 하나님께서 왜 나를 이 땅에 와서 살게 하시고 우리를 자녀와 백성으로 창조하시고 일하게 하셨는지를 아는 것입니다.

 

이 세상에 얼마나 똑똑한 사람들이 많습니까? 그런데 무엇 때문에 사는지를 잘 모릅니다. 열심히 달릴 줄 아는데 왜 달리는지 알지 못하고, 먹어도 왜 먹는지 잘 모르며, 일해도 왜 일하는지 정확히 모릅니다.

 

그러나 영적인 지혜가 있을 때에 모든 것을 분별할 수 있는 능력을 갖게 됩니다. 때를 분별하고 장소를 분별하고 선택할 행동을 옳게 선택하게 합니다. 오늘 본문에서 사도 바울은 에베소 교회 성도들에게 편지하며 지혜를 강조합니다.

본문 15절 = “그런즉 너희가 어떻게 행할지를 자세히 주의하여 지혜 없는 자 같이 하지 말고 오직 지혜 있는 자 같이 하여”라고 하십니다.

 

왜 지혜 있는 자 같이 행하라고 합니까? 저와 여러분의 삶이 너무 소중하고 가치있기 때문입니다. 아무렇게나 대충 살지 말자는 이야기입니다. 그래서 어떻게 행할지를 자세히 주의하여 행동해야 한다고 말합니다.

얼마나 오래 살았느냐가 중요한 것이 아니라 얼마나 뜻있게 살았느냐가 중요합니다.

 

인생이 한번 밖에 없는 기회라는 의미에서는 누구에게나 인간은 동등합니다. 어떤 사람은 윤회나 환생을 믿지만…… 그런 것은 다 마귀의 거짓 속임수입니다. 마귀는 사람의 과거를 카피(읽고 복사하는)하는 능력은 있기 때문이죠. 그런데 어떤 사람들은 한번 뿐인 인생을 어리석은 짓으로 가득 채운채 죽음을 향하여 달려갈 수도 있습니다.

(그렇다면 어떻게 사는 것이 지혜로운 삶이겠습니까? 본문을 통해서 함께 크게 두가지로 나눠 은혜 나누기 원합니다.)

 

본론)

가) 삶의 기회를 붙잡으라 (16)

16절 = “세월을 아끼라! 때가 악하니라”고 합니다.

지혜로운 자의 삶의 태도에 있어서 가장 첫번째로 중요한 것은 무엇입니까? 세월을 아끼는 것입니다.

“아낀다”라는 동사는 헬라어로‘사다(쇼핑하다)’라는 뜻입니다. 영어성경에는 redeem이라고 번역했습니다. ‘구해내다’는 의미인데 세월(시간)을 구해낸다는 것입니다. 쉽게 풀어보면 “선한 일을 할 수 있는 기회를 잘 붙잡기 바란다”는 뜻입니다. 왜 기회를 놓치지 말고 잘 붙잡아야 합니까? 때가 악하기 때문인데, 즉 이 땅에서의 시간은 대부분 선을 위해서 사용하는 시간보다 주어진 시간들이 무익하고 악하게 흘러가도록 유혹하는 것들이 많기 때문입니다. 결국 사기 당하거나 빼앗기고 잃어버린다는 의미입니다.(사기 당한 돈은 아까운데 시간은 안 아깝나요? 그러면 어리석은 자가 된다는 뜻이죠)

 

분문에 나오는 ‘세월’은 헬라어로는 “카이로스”라고 합니다. 미리 계획 되고 확정된 시간 즉 하나님의 정해 놓으신 시간을 가리킵니다. 우리는 넓은 의미에서 하나님이 정해 놓으신 시간 속에 살고 있습니다. 그 시간은 무한대가 아니라 하나님이 정해 놓으신 한계가 있다는 말입니다. 따라서 그 시간은 각자에게는 한번뿐인 유일한 기회입니다.

고로 한번뿐인 인생의 시간을 어떻게 사용했느냐에 따라서 그 사람의 영원의 삶이 결정되기 때문입니다. 일찍이 모세는 시90:10에서“우리의 연수가 칠십이요 강건하면 팔십이라도 그 연수의 자랑은 수고와 슬픔뿐이요 신속히 가니 우리가 날아가니이다”고 고백했습니다.

 모세는 거기에 덧붙여 12절에서 “우리에게 우리 날 계수함을 가르치사 지혜로운 마음을 얻게 하소서”라고 했습니다.

 

 허무한 인생, 즉 수고와 슬픔이 남고 신속히 날아가는 인생을 극복할 수 있는 삶을 지혜를 얻는 것이라고 합니다. 무엇이 지혜입니까? 자신의 인생이 얼마나 남아있는가를 깨달으며 살아가는 것입니다. 여러분! 남은 인생이 얼마입니까? 헤아려 보는 것이 지혜입니다.

 

간혹 국가간 스포츠 경기를 볼 때 시간이 정해져 있습니다. 게임 종료 시간이 5분 정도 남았습니다. 그 마지막 기회를 잘 살리면 경기를 역전할 수 있습니다(특히 축구나 유도나…..).

 

성경을 보세요! 다니엘은 마지막 때를 이렇게 증거하고 있습니다.

단 12:4 = “다니엘아 마지막때까지 이 마을 간수하고 이글을 봉함하라 많은 사람이 빨리 왕래하여 지식이 더하리라”고 했죠?

 

지금이 마지막 때입니다. 마지막 때는 지식이 고도로 쌓이고 사람들이 분주하며 쫓기는 삶을 살아가게 됩니다. 시간의 노예가 되기 쉽습니다. 바쁘면 바쁠수록 정신을 차리고 우리에게 주어진 시간 속에서 기회를 잡아야 합니다.

 

그럼 어떻게 기회를 잘 잡을 수 있을까요? 삶의 우선순위를 분명히 해야 합니다. 중요한 것과 중요하지 않은 것을 구별할 줄 아는 지혜가 필요합니다. 계획을 구체적으로 하나님 말씀 안에서 세워야 합니다.  시간이 없을수록 현대인들은 영적인 것이 언제나 우선 순위에서 밀리기 쉽습니다. 그래서 예수께선 무어라 하셨습니까?

마 6:33 = “그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라”고 했습니다.

 

세상은 너무 악해서 언제나 영적이고 신령한 것을 빼앗아 가려 합니다. 그러나 지혜로운 사람은 주어진 하나님의 일을 먼저 구합니다.

 

나)주의 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하세요(17)

“그러므로 어리석은 자가 되지 말고 오직 주의 뜻이 무엇인가 이해하라”

어리석은 자가 되지 않고 지혜로운 자의 삶을 살아가는 방법은 주의 뜻이 무엇인가를 분별하는 것이라 했습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지 알지 못하고 아무리 열심히 봉사 충성해도 헛된 수고가 될 수 있습니다.

 

지혜는 무엇입니까? 분별력과 통찰력입니다. 옳고 그른 것을 분별하고 중요한 것과 중요하지 않은 것을 분별하고, 가야 할 곳과 가지 말아야 할 곳을 분별하는 것입니다.

 

변화되고 성숙한 믿음일수록 내 뜻을 버리고 하나님의 뜻을 좆게 됩니다. 예수님께서도 십자가를 앞에 놓고 겟세마네 동산에서 “내 뜻대로 마옵시고 아버지의 뜻대로 하옵소서”라고 기도하셨습니다. 육신의 소욕이 아닌 성령의 소욕, 내 뜻이 아닌 하나님의 뜻을 따르기 위해서 기도하셨습니다. 우리의 신앙생활은 열심만 가지고서는 안 됩니다. 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인가 분별해야 합니다.

 

그래서 롬12:3 = “내게 주신 은혜로 말미암아 너희 각사람에게 말하노니 마땅히 생각할 그 이상의 생각을 품지 말고, 오직 하나님께서 각 사람에게 나누어 주신 믿음의 분량대로 지혜롭게 생각하라”고 했습니다.

 

열심과 충성이 전부가 아니라는 것입니다. 예수께서 한번은 “예루살렘에 올라가시면서 장로들과 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 많은 고난을 받고 죽임을 당하고 제 삼일에 살아날 것”을 제자들에게 말씀하십니다. 그때 베드로가 무엇이라고 합니까?

 “베드로가 예수를 붙들고 항변하여 이르되 주여 그리 마옵소서 이 일이 결코 주께 미치지 아니하리이다 (마 16:22)”라고 합니다. 그때 예수께서 무엇이라고 하십니까? “사탄아! 내 뒤로 물러가라! 너는 나를 넘어지게 하는 자로다! 네가 하나님의 일을 생각하지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하도다!”라고 책망하십니다. 그리고 말씀하십니다. “누구든지 나를 따라 오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를 것이니라”고 하십니다.

 

인간적 충성이나 열심보다 하나님의 뜻을 따라가야 합니다. 이것이 주님을 따르는 제자의 길입니다. 오늘날 우리는 자꾸 자신이 무엇을 해내려고 합니다. 목회도 큰 목회를 해야 목회를 잘한다고 생각합니다. 세상적 성공에 붙잡혀 있습니다. 잘못된 경쟁이 붙잡혀 있습니다. 주의 뜻, 하나님의 뜻에 순종하지 않고 자신의 생각을 앞세우면 어리석은 자가 됩니다.

 

문제는 무엇입니까? 어떤 때는 하나님의 뜻을 분별해서 그 뜻대로 행하는 것이 쉽지 않습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님께서는 “이것이 나의 뜻이다”라고 구체적으로 말씀하지 않으시기 때문입니다. 하나님의 뜻에는 두가지가 있습니다. 첫째 하나님이 주권적인 뜻입니다. 우리가 저항할 수 없는 뜻입니다. 하나님의 계획하시고 섭리하신 뜻은 아무도 거스를 수 없습니다. 절대적인 뜻입니다. 하나님의 아들이신 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 죄를 위해서 십자가에서 죽으시는 것이 하나님의 절대적 뜻입니다(행2:23). 그런 예수를 반드시 믿는 일이 절대적 하나님의 뜻입니다. 안 그러면 천국 대신 지옥 갈 일만 남습니다)

 

 둘째는 하나님의 소원적인 뜻입니다. “항상 기뻐하고 기도하고 범사에 감사하는 것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라”고 했습니다. 그러나 기뻐할 수도 있고 기뻐하지 않을 수도 있습니다. 쉬지않고 기도하지 않을 수도 있습니다. 감사할 수도 있고 불평할 수도 있습니다. 그러나 하나님의 소원적인 뜻을 행하면 영적으로 신앙적으로 유익이 큽니다.

 

우리는 항상 하나님의 말씀을 기준으로 해서 생각하는 습관적 훈련을 해야 합니다. 가장 무서운 불신앙이 무엇입니까? 어설픈 자신의 신앙 경험을 가지고 하나님의 뜻이라고 단정해 버리는 것입니다. 마치 학생들이 시험을 치를 때 답을 모르면 찍기로 답을 정해버리는 것과 같습니다. 하나님의 뜻을 찾는 훈련이 중요합니다.

마 7:21 = “나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 다 천국에 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라”고 했습니다. 하나님이 뜻을 분별해야 구원받는다는 것입니다.

 

보다 구체적으로 하나님의 뜻을 알 수 있는 두가지의 방법이 있습니다.

 

1)첫째는 날마다 규칙적으로 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 듣는 것입니다. 그때에 하나님의 말씀은 우리를 하나님의 뜻 가운데로 인도하십니다. 시119:130 = “주의 말씀을 열면 빛이 비치어 우둔한 사람들을 깨닫게 하나이다”고 했습니다. 말씀을 읽고 듣는 가운데 성령께서 깨달음을 주셔서 하나님의 뜻대로 인도하십니다.

 

2)둘째 하나님 앞에 기도할 때에 하나님의 뜻을 분별하게 됩니다.

시25:4-5 = “여호와여 주의 도를 내게 보이시고 주의 길을 내게 가르치소서 주의 진리로 나를 지도하시고 교훈하소서 주는 내 구원의 하나님이시니 내가 종일 주를 기다리나이다” 야고보 사도도 야고보서에서 “주의 뜻을 분별하고 인도하심을 받기 위해서 기도하고 기다리라”고 하셨습니다.

 

결론)

성도 여러분! 말씀과 기도 없이는 하나님의 뜻을 분별하기 매우 어렵습니다. 어리석게 살기 십상입니다.  2023년 한 해를 보내면서, 우리의 삶을 뒤돌아보십시다. 하나님의 말씀의 거울에 비춰 보십시오. 얼마나 세월을 아끼며 기회를 놓치지 않고 하나님의 뜻을 분별하며 지혜롭게 살아왔는가! 생각해 보시기 바랍니다. 어리석게 살아온 부분은 없습니까? 얼마나 하나님 뜻을 구하며 살아오셨습니까? 잘못된 부분은 회개하고, 다가오는 새해엔 더욱 지혜로운 신앙의 생활을 계획하고 실천하실 수 있으시길 예수님의 존귀하신 이름으로 축원 드립니다.

15. Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

16. Redeem the time, for the days are evil.

17. Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is.

18. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Holy Spirit.

19. Sing and make melody with your heart to the Lord, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.

20. Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

   21. Submit to one another out of fear of Christ

 

Introduction)

Our life is a series of problems. There is no one without problems in this world. There is no society or country without problems. All lives are entangled with problems. Human suffering is not just a problem of the environment. If you live well, there will be no problems and you will be happy, but even if you live well, there are many problems. Even if you live well, if you do not live righteously or wisely, your life will become even more unhappy. Therefore, you must have wisdom.

 

Where do you get the wisdom here? As you know, it is said that it is in God.

Proverbs 9:6 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Colossians 2:3 also says, “In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” The word “in him” means “in God.”

 

So who is the wise person? I am a person who strongly believes in the Trinity of God. At that time, he gains the wisdom to see his life within God's amazing plan.

 

Wisdom is ultimately about knowing the true purpose of all life and why God brought me to this earth to live, created us as children and people, and made us work.

 

How many smart people are there in this world? But I don't know what I live for. I know how to run hard, but I don't know why I run, even when I eat, I don't really know why I eat, and even when I work, I don't know exactly why I work.

 

However, when you have spiritual wisdom, you have the ability to discern everything. It allows us to discern the time, discern the place, and choose the right course of action. In today's text, Apostle Paul writes to the church saints in Ephesus and emphasizes wisdom.

Verse 15 of the text = “Take heed carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise.”

 

Why are we told to act like wise men? Because my life and yours are so precious and valuable. This is a story about not living haphazardly. That is why it is said that we must be very careful about how we act.

What matters is not how long you lived, but how meaningful you lived.

 

All humans are equal in the sense that life is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Some people believe in reincarnation or reincarnation... … These are all lies and tricks of the devil. However, some people may rush towards death, filling their only life with foolish actions.

(Then how can we live a wise life? I hope you can share grace with us through this text.)

 

Main subject)

 

A) Seize the opportunity of life (16)

Verse 16 = “Redeem your time! “The days are evil.”

What is the first important thing in a wise person’s attitude toward life? It's about saving time.

The verb “to cherish” means ‘to buy’ in Greek. In the English Bible, it is translated as redeem. It means ‘save’, which means saving time and time. To easily paraphrase, it means, “I hope you seize the opportunity to do good deeds.” Why should we seize the opportunity and not miss it? This is because times are evil, that is, there are many things that tempt us to spend our time on this earth in a useless and evil way rather than using it for good. In the end, it means that you get scammed and lose it. (It's a waste of money to get scammed, but isn't it a waste of time? If you do that, it means you're a fool.)

 

The word ‘time’ that appears in the text is called ‘kairos’ in Greek. It refers to a time that is planned and confirmed in advance, that is, a time set by God. In a broad sense, we live in the time set by God. This means that time is not infinite, but has a limit set by God. Therefore, that time is a unique opportunity for each person. Saving time, which is the only time of our lives, means making the most of the time given to us and seizing the opportunity. This is because a person's eternal life is determined by how he or she uses the time of one's life. Moses once confessed in Psalm 90:10, “Our years are seventy years old, and if we are strong, we are eighty years old. But they boast only of toil and sorrow; they pass quickly, and we fly away.”

  Moses added in verse 12, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

 

  It is said that gaining wisdom is a life that allows you to overcome a vain life, a life that flies by quickly and is filled with hardships and sorrow. What is wisdom? It's about living with the awareness of how much life you have left. everyone! How much life do you have left? Wisdom is to consider.

 

Sometimes, when watching sporting events between countries, there are set times. There are about 5 minutes left until the game ends. If you make good use of that last opportunity, you can turn the game around (especially in soccer or judo...).

 

Look at the Bible! Daniel speaks of the end times like this:

Dan 12:4 = “Daniel, guard this town until the time of the end, and seal this inscription. Many people will quickly come and go, and knowledge will increase.”

 

Now is the last time. In the end times, knowledge will be highly accumulated and people will live busy and driven lives. It's easy to become a slave to time. In times like these, we need to come to our senses and seize the opportunity within the time given to us.

 

How can you seize the opportunity? You need to be clear about your priorities in life. We need wisdom to be able to distinguish between what is important and what is not important. You need to make a concrete plan. As modern people have less time, it is easy for spiritual things to fall behind in their priorities. So what did Jesus say?

Matthew 6:33 = “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

The world is so evil that it always tries to take away spiritual and spiritual things. However, a wise person seeks first what God has given him.

 

B) Discern what the will of the Lord is (17)

“Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

It is said that the way to live the life of a wise person without becoming a fool is to discern what the will of the Lord is. Because if you do not know what God’s will is, no matter how hard you serve and faithfully, your efforts may be in vain.

 

What is wisdom? Discernment and insight. It is about discerning what is right and wrong, what is important and what is not important, and where to go and where not to go.

 

The more changed and mature your faith becomes, the more you abandon your own will and pursue God's will. Jesus also prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane with the cross in front of him, saying, “Not my will, but yours be done.” He prayed to follow the desires of the Holy Spirit, not the desires of the flesh, and to follow God's will, not my will. Our religious life should not be done only with zeal. We must discern what God’s will is.

 

So Romans 12:3 = “By the grace given to me I say to every one of you, not to think of yourself more highly than you ought, but to think soberly, according to the measure of faith God has assigned to each of you.”

 

Zeal and loyalty are not everything. Jesus once tells his disciples that “as he goes up to Jerusalem, he will suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and he will be killed, and on the third day he will be raised.” What does Peter say then?

  He says, “Peter took hold of Jesus and protested, saying, ‘Not so, Lord; this will never happen to you (Matthew 16:22).’” Then he asked, “What does Jesus say?” “Satan! Get behind me! You are the one who causes me to stumble! “You do not set your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men!” he rebukes. And he says: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

 

We must follow God's will rather than loyalty or zeal. This is the path of a disciple who follows the Lord. These days, we keep trying to accomplish things ourselves. I believe that in order to do well in ministry, you have to have a large ministry. We are caught up in worldly success. The wrong kind of competition is being held captive. If you put your own thoughts first instead of obeying the will of the Lord and God, you become a fool.

 

What's the problem? Sometimes it is not easy to discern God's will and do it. Because God does not specifically say, “This is my will.” There are two types of God’s will. First, God is sovereign. It is a meaning we cannot resist. No one can go against God's planned and providential will. It means absolutely. It is God's absolute will that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, die on the cross for our sins. (Acts 2:23) It is God’s absolute will to believe in Jesus. Otherwise, all that remains is going to hell instead of heaven)

  Second, it is God’s wishful will. “This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus: to rejoice always, to pray, and to give thanks in all circumstances.” But you may or may not be happy. You may not pray without ceasing. You can be thankful or you can complain. However, if you do God's desired will, you will have great spiritual and religious benefits.

 

We must always make it a habit to think based on the Word of God. What is the most frightening form of unbelief? It is to conclude that this is God's will based on one's own flimsy religious experience. It's like when students take a test and don't know the answer, they choose the answer by marking it. Training to find God’s will is important.

Matthew 7:21 = “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” You must discern God’s will to be saved.

 

More specifically, there are two ways to know God’s will. 1) The first thing is to read and listen to the Word of God regularly every day. At that time, God's word guides us into God's will. Psalm 119:130 = “When your word is opened, light shines and gives understanding to the simple.” As you read and listen to the Word, the Holy Spirit gives you understanding and guides you according to God's will. 2) Second, when you pray before God, you can discern God’s will.

Psalm 25:4-5 = “Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your ways. Guide me and instruct me in your truth. You are God my salvation; I wait for you all day long.” Apostle James also says in the Book of James, “Pray to discern His will and receive guidance.”

 

Conclusion)

Dear saints! It is very difficult to discern God's will without words and prayer. It is easy to live foolishly. As we spend the year 2023, let’s look back on our lives. Look in the mirror of God’s Word. How have you lived wisely, conserving time, not missing opportunities, and discerning God’s will? Please think about it. Are there any parts of your life that you have lived foolishly? How long have you been seeking God’s will?
